Argh! Broken finger!!

Postby thebigcheese » May 22nd, '08, 10:32

Broke my wedding finger at work yesterday!Bloomin sore!
Rather than concentrating my magical efforts to become the charlier cut champion of the world, is there anything else that only requires the one hand: I'll be working on my top palm a lot too!
Advice would be appreciated (and sympathy too if its going spare!)
Cheers

Maybe watch some videos of René Lavand! The one handed genius! There's plenty on youtube.

Or use your other hand as much as possible to strenghten it! Nothing beats an ambidexterous magician!

What about learning the hot shot cut by Daryl (or Paul Harris' easier version).

You could also learn Lernart Greens top shot.

Then finally you have numerous one hand cuts, fans and shuffles to choose from. A one handed riffle shuffle could be useful (in a non-useful kinda way).

Can anybody please help me? I'm having terrible problems controlling my streetmagic- I can't walk down a street without turning into a pub.

Ouch, sorry to hear that.

Maybe take the time to brush up on some mental magic/mentalism?

If that's not your thing then maybe look back through your reference material for magic that could happen in the spectator's hand?

Could be used for a fair bit if misdirection too: "Would you mind holding this? As you can see I'm ..." only half the magician I was? currently HAND-icapped? etc. depending upon style.

Good luck!

Ow, how long does it have to heal?

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

Watch shoot Ogawa perform W Matrix, you can find it on youtube. Anyway he says he learnt it when he broke his hand 3 weeks before competition. I'm sure its just patter but its the best matrix effect I've ever seen.

Fingers if I remember when I broke mine don't take that long to heal luckily but that doesn't make it any less painful. I loved the fact that with me they just rammed the splint thing on and asked if I wanted pain killers to take with me.

No no I says being a big boy. I've never made that mistake again :)

Reckon I can take the bandage off in 4 weeks, so no great shakes there! and good as new a few weeks after all being well! Am currently working through the flourishes DVD on D&D's Trilogy as a lot of stuff on it is within my 8 fingered grasp (so he says!)! Brilliant Box set, id definatly recommend it-very American though (funny old thing!)
{Am still accepting sympathy by the way! :) }
