The two effects left out were indeed 'Remin-something' (can't spell it) and also 'lift', which is were you control someone else's arm and the second your's lifts up so does theres. Even though they cant see you.
I think he may have perfromed this on one of his specials.

Hi,
The effects you are looking for are 'Lift' and 'Reminiscence'.

The 2 effects are performed on Derren Browns Magic Lecture which can be picked up on e-bay for belo £30 as can a cpoy of the first edition of Pure Effect. This I have seen gor for £500 though so not to everybodys pocket!!
Lift is an effect which involves a Hypnotised subject having their hand stuck to a table and only raising it when Derren raises his own hand. The effect becomes spectacular when he invites a member of the audience to take over the power of the 'Lift' by havning the spectator raise or lower their hand BEHIND the hypnotised subject and the subject responding in the same way as the volunteer by raising or lowering her hand in unison.
It's a lot better when you see it than having me explain it.

The second effect id Called Reminiscence and basically involves Derren reading the mind of a volunteer while they are hypnotised and accuratley describing a scene from their past. Once again the effect reaches another level when he invites another spectator to the stage and the volunteer miraculasly reads the mind of the hypnotised subject accuratley.

If you are thinking of buying a copy of Pure Effect to learn these effect then be sure you buy a First Edition ONLY. The subsequent editions, two and three DO NOT cntain these effects. There is currently a second edition copy for sale on e-bay (£350 buy it now, 9/3/2008) which is offering the effects but be aware this can only be a copy of the effects and not an actual copy of the first edition.!! You have been warned.

I have a copy of the 1st edition which I would be happy to discuss with dedicated magicians. Contact me for more info.

Mayny thanks.

or was Richard being a stooge...?

I'm sure I remember on his tv show a bike occuring in a similar routine, specifically a red bike. Shame it was left out, I have a second edition.

The famous Lift effect...

You can see Reminiscence on the International Magic Derren Brown lecture video.

There are hundreds of copyrighted card tricks and magical sleights available to "learn" on youtube, but that doesn't make it right.

Wild Card, you might want to edit your quote from before as it's still exposing the method

:P Happy Mickey? Gawd, I'm worse than the problem itself!

In the words of Mitch Hedberg..
"I don't know if Carmex helps coldsores, but I do know it makes them shiny and more noticeable."

Yeah I have no idea how that relates to anything either.

Lift
A person is sat in a chair with their eyes closed. They are asked to hold thier arm in the air. Derren holds his arm in the same way, when Derren drops his arm, the particpants arm drops at the same time. A 2nd volunteer is then asked to the stage and is requested to stand behind the person sat in the chair. Both participants stand with their arms in the air and at the time of the standing person’s choosing they lower their arm. At the exact instant, the person sat in the chair with their eyes closed lowers their arm as well. The effect is continued with the standing person moving their arm up and down and the seated person following through apparently telepathic means. This trick was published in the 1st edition of the Derren Brown book ‘Pure Effect’ but was later removed as it was thought the effect was too strong.

Reminiscence
Another trick removed from ‘Pure Effect’. It has been performed in various forms in Derren’s TV shows including an occassion at the opera. It generally involves asking a spectator to recall a memory, step inside it and imagine it in vivid colours. Derren then describes the memory the person is visualising in minute detail, right down to specifics such as the music playing in the background and the people also present. It is a dual reality effect also based on the work of Doc Hilford and Kenton Knepper.

very annoying such good tricks were removed!!!!!!!!

ANNOYED I WANT 2 LEARN THESE TRICKS BUT THE FIRST EDITION IS NOW LIKE £500!!!!!!!!!!
