A nice little story about magic

Postby doyler35 » Jun 20th, '08, 14:56

So, I was the the Street Performance World Championships in Dublin last weekend. Two magicians were performing, Charlie Caper from Sweeden and Max Matheis from Germany. I'd been bursting with excitment to see the two. Theres just something about seeing a magic show, isn't there?

Anyway, myself and my friend turned up early for Charlie Caper's show so we could sit up the front (and I'm supposed to be a young adult! :P). We were sitting next to a kid of about two who was there with his dad, having a chat. So, soon enough Charlie Caper came on and began a few small routines to draw a bigger crowd. He was mostly doing some enterataining oin effects, and bantering with the crowd. After a few miniutes, he asked the kid beside us to join him. He got the kid to put his hands out, as if to accept the coin. Charlie then did a simple coin vanish, and held his empty fist over the kids hands. The kid was obviously expecting him to drop the coin into his hands. Charlie opened his hand, and no coin feel. The look on the kids face was absolutly priceless. He looked from Charlies hand, to his own hand, back to Charlies hand, on the ground, up above him, every where. His suprise and pure joy was obvious. When Charlie pulled the coin from the kid's ear, the applause was rapterous!

It was really enjoyable to see this kid witnissing something we had all seen many times before for the first time and really loving it. Really, an example of the beauty of magic. I never thought seeing a French Drop would be on the highlights of my expieriences in magic :)

Hope you enjoyed this!
