Bee deck quality

Postby Java » Jun 25th, '08, 10:24

I bought a large batch of these from Davenports a while back and got a couple of quid knocked off. A week or so ago I bought half a dozen packs from Card Collection. My latest batch appear to be of superior quality - which I'm thinking has lead to the sudden improvement in my Faro. But it could also be due to my earlier batch aging and getting a bit damp. I can't be sure. The boxes are different. My Davenports batch have 'Casino Quality' written at the top and the Card Collection batch has 'No 92'. Does this mean anything to anyone? Are they different grades?

My Bee decks all say "No. 92" on the top, and they are excellent quality.

I know that Bee is the choice of card for many American casinos and they usually have them commissioned in special windowed boxes with the name of the casino on.

Perhaps your Davenports ones were sold wholsesale from back-stock of cards that were originally made for casinos rather than ones that were manufactured for sale under the Bee brand - as I also have several decks that were originally intended to be used in Las Vegas on Bee stock with the same back design and they aren't as good as the 92s.

I only ever use them for playing poker, though, because the back design of Bees makes them useless for magic.

Most of the time all I use are Bee No. 92's. They seem to be the same quality as Bikes but are a little cheaper in price. I actually think my handling is better with the Bees than the Bikes, this might just be me though.

That's interesting. It seems that the Davenport ones were lower quality.

I'm not sure about them being useless for magic. I also prefer the handling of Bees. I've tried really hard to prefer bikes but always get along better with Bees. As long as you don't use reversed cards then the non-white border isn't really a problem.

When i used to be into cards. Bees were OK for practice.
but the problems i found was that they worn out pretty fast compared to other cards i had.
The cards are not good for manipulation.
I just stuck with Tally's. They were the best i had, and still have them in good condition.
