Which direction?

Not a post about maps but rather where to go for a magician starting out?

I've got a small bit of card knowledge from "165 card tricks and stunts" by Jean Hugard and I'm aware of Svengali and tapered decks etc.

I've recently bought "Chaos 2" and "The Hidden" (well impressed with both) but im not sure where to go from here.

Im not really feeling coins at the moment and I'm considering Killer Elite,

What does everyone else think, stick to cards or try something different to keep it varied? any suggestions?

thanks for any help

(ps sorry mod's if this is the wrong section)

I've got "165 Card Tricks and Stunts" and it's a bit stuffy. Their finest work, and a good all-round grounding in card work, is "The Royal Road to Card Magic". It's got all the classic techniques.

If you're not sure where to go with your magic, pick up Mark Wilson's complete course. That'll give you a good range of magical effects (and sorry Lommie for recommending it before you!! :D ). If you then find a specific area you like, then the specialist books can be bought. With cards (which is my area), I would definitely recommend royal road as a starting point.

I don't know whatlevel you are at and what you can and can't do. You have very very strong effects in the hidden and if you get killer elite. As much as I like card magic , in my opinion, and it is my opinion, you would be better keeping your options open. Get effects that you can hand out after you have performed them it adds to the effect for the spectator. As I said you have a strong effect in the hidden practice that until you can do it with you're eyes shut and watch the response.
