You know your a cardie when....

Postby k88 » Jun 30th, '08, 16:42

Ok so today it was a very very chilled lesson in college, teacher wasn't around, it's almost the last week, exams are over, so basically nothing important to do.

My group seemed dead, so I decided to lighten up the mood with a bit of magic as you do

I got my deck out, a ghost deck, yes yes it's E but atleast they made one good thing...but this deck has lasted since 2006, and still in good condition, great fans, great springs just surviving overall...

But then stupidly I let one of my classmates shuffle it and just generally check it out, when he handed it back, the cards where basically dead
(ironic it's called ghost huh?) the sides were sticky and wet, and it couldn't even pressure fan, the cards were sticking to each other so badly  :x

I wanted to be sick as how dirty his hands are! but he killed it!!

But the main point of the post was just to compile a Talk Magic list of things when you know your a cardie ;)

I guess everyones seen the "You know your a magician" post, so why not compile our own list.

Post 1 quote each.

Here goes.

You know your a cardie when you cringe at the sight of your spectators shuffling and dropping your cards!

When you find yourself practising DLs with the toast at breakfast - even though it's got butter and marmalade on it.

When the phrase "take a break" means something completely different to you

OR

When you keep even the dirtiest, grubbiest decks "for spares"

Being a cardie means that you NEVER shuffle a deck without at least one false shuffle thrown in somewhere for good measure

...when

While waiting in line to purchase something you can't resist spinning your credit card or slipping into the different palm positions.

All the time! I honestly don't think I can shuffle normally anymore. I find myself injogging on normal overhands, keepings breaks, false cutting and the rest!

I remember reading a sheet at school a couple of years ago and kept reading the letters AOM as Art of Astonishment (Art of Astonishment), my brain just couldn't adjust.

OR

When someone asks you to deal and you can't help but throw in a couple of seconds...

You know when you're a cardie because Olram sounds less like a lightbulb manufacturer, and Phalanges sounds less like an island in the Philipenes.
