First Steps - Advice on where to look please.

Postby FairieSnuff » Jul 3rd, '08, 10:55

Hello,
Well my nice shiny new svengali deck has arrived and i have understood the basic principles, just wondered if anyone had any reccomendations on where to look for speciifc routines etc. I dont want to copy anyone, but until i have a grasp of the deck and its workings i'd like to see how effects can be achieved so i can then adapt them.

Many Thanks

Fairie.

Ps hope everyones having a jolly brill day :0)

I think there's a section on the svengali in the Encyclopedia of Card Tricks, might be well worth a look.

Have fun :D

Any second now Mark Lewis will breeze in a oh so casually mention 'The Long and Short of it' . Check out the Review section or search using Svengali and see what turns up, I'm sure we've had several useful ideas and sugegstions for routines popsted here in the past.

As for a jolly brill day, it's absolutely ppppp pouring down at the moment  !

You could try the '25 tricks with a svengali deck' DVD.

I always liked Nyman's Svengali Routine. It was quick and to the point. If your a beginner with cards, i'd get the handling down first.

Not being funny or owt, but the 'Long and Short' didn't blow me away. It does have some useful stuff in terms of the handling and that I cannot fault.. but the routine .. not the most entertaining I'll dare to say.

That said I would still heartily recomment The Long and Short of it to all beginners as the techniques in there will make your handling of the Svengali deck much more efficient.

Just be sure that, once you have learned the moves you wish to utilise.. create your own routine, one that might actually entertain people ..

*someone wont be happy with that but.. hey, each to his own*
