Nyman Vs. Jermay: Get Nyman Vs Skullduggery

Postby GoldFish » Jun 3rd, '04, 11:26

If anybody has both it would be great to see a comparitive review up (i.e. one that weighs up each one against each other rather than reviews them individually).

If this isn't possible perhaps comparison between both artists written work or a combination of both.

Cheers very much,

Fish

Goldfish.... yes, I own these two...

The two are VERY different. Nyman's 'Get Nyman' set outclasses Jermay's 'Skulduggery' in every way possible—therefore, it is impossible to compare the two DVDs. I think the values of each are very different, as would your reasons for purchase.
Nyman's DVDs contains rock-solid effects, insights and a bit of 'cheeky' Nyman character unwrapping. Jermay's is perhaps a little less workable—and is more a study of mentalism/psychology etc. for people who are already fans of his works.

The content, quality, and overall feel are very different. Nyman's DVD reeks maturity, class and style. Whereas Luke's is basically the first rung on a ladder. Albeit a very good ladder and rung ;)

As I have said before in these tomes, the Nyman DVD is a wholesome and thoroughly enjoyable standalone project. In my opinion, Jermay's is more an accompanyment to his books—and in that context, the books and the DVD make an excellent set.

It should not be said that I would not recommend either Nyman's or Jermay's—they are just simply two completely different products.

For me, the 3 DVD Nyman set has the edge, as it is punchy and more inclusive. Jermay's is a little thin on the ground all round.

Thanks for that, that really helps. Now all I need to do is get some finacial backing and away we go! I hate being a student.

The Nyman effects are straightforward and practicable and well within the grasp of the average performer. If you can't afford the DVD set, go for the lecture notes he has produced. There is nothing on the DVD which is not in the notes, but there is quite a bit in the notes not on the DVDs (for example billet work).
