Sticky coins

Postby goodismyname » May 31st, '08, 02:47

Hey I've been getting into more and more coin magic lately. It has been working pretty good but then sometimes it gets to hard to manipulate the coin. You see when I am doing coin magic the warmth of the coin makes my hands perspire (my hands lightly sweat). Anyways when I am doing this the coin gets hard to manipulate as it becomes to sticky.

Does anyone have any advice on how to make it easier to manipulate or how to un-stick it. Also I wouldn't be able to switch it out as this usually happens in the middle of a performance.

Maybe put talcom powder on your hands before performing, stops them being stick and wet!

Keep your hands nice and clean, and keeps some alcohol wipes in your pocket. The alcohol will dry up the grease and sweat just before a performance.

i find slightly moist hands actually help me manipulate coins as cleandry hands make classic palms a little unstable.

KFC wipes work well for me.. just walk in and pocket a handful.

Hmmm thanks I will have to try those! I've been practicing this one coin move lately and I can't practice it (much less perform it) because it gets to sticky and the friction becomes to great.

I find that if I've been practicing for too long (2 or 3 hours) a coin can get very warm, sticky and unpleasant to work with. My solution is simply to use another coin. If it's getting sticky in less than 15 minutes, it suggests you need to wash your hands before practicing.

So from these replys I'm guessing that the main cause are oils in my skin.

I heard somewhere cant quite remember but your supposed to run cold water from the tap onto your wrists,
as this contracts the vains going into the hands
slowing blood flow not allowing the sweat

something like that anyway
