Shadow Magic

Postby Dominick » Jul 9th, '08, 17:36

Well, I've run a few searches, but have come up dry on this subject. I'm sure we've all heard of Penn and Teller's famous trick, "Shadows." If you haven't, I'll post the link at the end of this.

I'm a huge fan of Penn and Teller's version of the trick, but fail to see any type of trick even remotely similar to it. I've tried some of my own research and development on some ideas I had, but they all come up way short. Does anybody know of a source where I can find something similar?

Link for Shadows: http://youtube.com/watch?v=un1pNtmYguA

Thanks,
Dominick

I just recently posted in a different thread about this effect, and I'm pretty sure it's safe to say it's an absolute beauty to watch. I have an idea of a way of achieving a similar effect, but don't have the time nor patience to implement it.

By far one of the most beautiful tricks I've ever seen. I'm in love with it. And I agree with the second part as well. I feel like his is much more smooth, while mine is just tedious, which I feel completely takes away from the trick.

Its probably just his presentation that makes it so amazingly smooth. An intricate method probably lies deep beneath

That is most likely so, but I really hope I can find some sort of information on it somewhere. Anyone else have any ideas?

Hello friends, I am 30 years old and I have seen so many magic show and magic tricks. But I am wondering about magic tricks with finger. How superpower they have got. It is so fantasy. Recently I saw this magic trick where a guy "cuts off his finger/ takes it off" then puts it back on... I think it’s just tucked behind his hand but I can’t seem to do it. I really want to know the trick. Can anyone tell me the trick? Have a nice day.

Hello Linda, and welcome to TM.

Unfortunately we do not expose / tell how tricks are done on TalkMagic, so you won't be getting an answer to your question, apart from saying that the effect you're asking about is an illusion (no superpowers involved!)
