I just got done doing a card, d'lite performance for a group of kids 10-16, they loved it and think im some sort of magic demon lol, it was really nerve racking but im glad I went through with it. How did you feel when you did your first performance?

Exactly the same as you

Well done, it does get easier the more you do it, I'm still on that start of that road but already I'm ten times the performer I was when I did my first performance for a random group

After a bunch of performances you'll feel like you're mastered it.

Then after a bunch more you'll realize you've mastered nothing and you have a hell of a lot of work left to do.

That will be a good day! It won't feel like it tho.

I felt the same way I feel before every performance - a mixture of excitement and abject terror. It's that mixture that makes me love it.

It's a great feeling, isn't it? It will only get better. You've already taken the biggest step, sir - the rest will come easier.

Congrats and keep going!

My first ever professional booking was a riot. It was an hour long kids' show. After 20 minutes I'd finished my routine, and looking depairingly at the clock realised I would have to "improv" for 40 minutes. "Anybody want to see any of the tricks again?" I asked my audience hopefully.

"Do you do magic shows often?" the mother asked accusingly.

my first paid did was a wedding, I remember being so nervous that I drove around the block 3 times before getting up the courage to go in.

The gig went brilliantly though and I had a great time.

heres some of the stuff I did, Needle through arm, coin through can, card to ceiling, card through hankercheif, visible card through window ( where you pull it through) , d'lites, and regurgitated card, with patter it lasted about 30-45 mins, but I need to learn how to work on my presentation, anyone know a good book, or ebook where I could learn how to present my tricks better and make my patter better? thanks, Matt

Sounds like a good first performance and to a good length of time.

This is the one I've been considering buying for showmanship.

i killed someone at my first gig they were that bored...they covered their own head with a plastic bag until the noises stopped...

look out for that "aaaaaaaahhhhh!" moment, when you try something just a little differently, it works brilliantly and you get so excited you almost want to stop everyone and tell them what you just did...
