Does anyone know a good way to acheive this affect, or where I could learn it? Matt

Hi MagicMatt...

That's kind of like asking "does anyone know of any good films?"

There are loads of ways to achieve this effect. What you choose will depend on your ability with cards, particularly in terms of whether you can p*** a card or not (and if you don't know what that word is, you probably can't). If you're buying a special wallet for the trick, it's important to check whether you need to be able to do this or not.

There are ways to do this without using this technique (the Mullica Wallet is favoured by many professionals). There are also a lot of ways to do it with a normal wallet.

My advice would be to buy either the card to wallet book by Jerry Mentzer, or the Card to Wallet DVD in the "World's Greatest Magic" series. These will demonstrate lots of different possibilities using different methods, and give you an insight into what gimmicks are available.

Finally, if you want to go down the route of a gimmicked wallet, be aware that many of the traditional products look like formal evening wallets, i.e. huge old man wallets that will look out of place for a lad of 14 years old.

Hope that helps. :)

get comfortable p**ming. Period.
Michael Close has some fantastic eBooks on p**ming. Really great!
Once you can do that comfortably, card to wallet and a million other effects come as easy collecting water in a rain storm.

I use the Loooooooooooooooong Card as an excuse to go to get my wallet. It's part of my routine when I use a breast pocket wallet.

Yes, the long card rocks. Infact, there was one time at a ball I did a TL instead of a DL which meant the person's card that was supposed to end up in the wallet ended up being revealed with an ego change - d'oh! Thankfully I was using the long card in the routine so I just built that up and used it as the climax, still got a great reaction! :D

Matt,
Forget about p**ming (or palming, to make it easier); and forget about spending an arm and a leg for a gimmicked wallet (that looks like nothing on earth!).

Anyone interested can e-mail me for my signed Anytime Card To Wallet.
This can be done virtually anywhere and at anytime using a normal wallet.

Those interested, just e-mail me at the address below and I'll happily send you my Card To Wallet, which appeared in the Linking Ring magazine some years back, for free.

No strings, no gimmicks, it's free! (But it would be nice if you said "thanks".)

cheers,

Matt,

You haven't replied to any of the answers posted so I'll add my comment.

In order to give you a fair reply to your question, we need to know whether you have the ability to perform advanced sleight of hand moves such as palming a card and whether you want to use a hip wallet or a formal wallet which fits in your inner jacket pocket.
