Hi there. Ive been lurking on these forums for a while now and thought it was time i stopped being bashful and said 'hello.'

My name's Ed and Ive not been practicing magic seriously for particularly long, despite having a healthy interest in it since I was young (I remember finding an old svengali deck in my grandparents house when I was a kid and being mesmerised by the posssibilities. When i say it was old i mean it, too... Paul Daniels had hair on the front of the box.)

My main interest lies in card magic, coin magic and generally any close up work that can be performed with borrowed items.
I'm currently re-reading RRTCM, with Expert Card Technique waiting eagerly in the wings. I've also picked up Bobo and The Devil's picturebook DVD (A bit advanced, maybe, but couldn't resist :) )

I'm particularly interested in getting to grips with some good misdirection techniques (card under box, card under pint, card in the marmalade jar the next morning etc.) so would be very appreciative of any recommendations in that area.

Thanks very much for your time. This seems like a wonderful place and i hope to become an active part of it! :)

Just from your introduction I can tell you'll fit in well here!

When I was relatively new to Card Magic, I picked up Devil's Picture Book, just to watch. I can now, and do perform a certain effect from the DVD and several of the psychological forces etc.

When i say it was old i mean it, too... Paul Daniels had hair on the front of the box

That made me chuckle a lot!

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

the trick to card under glass is to just do it. Once you get passed the nerves it will all fall into place.
