I think the way Matthew Dowden does the Sl*p c*t force in His DVD Party Animal is a very convincing force. I use it as my primary force as the patter used and pointing with the fingers means that you have to rotate the hands to show the spectator what your doing. This renders it undetectable from all angles in my limited experience of doing it this way for about 9 months...The classic is obviously the fairer looking one but how many times do people decide to choose the bottom card regardless what methods you use on the classic?!! (Unless I just perform on really awkward people?! :? )

My favorite force is the psychological cut force or whatever it's called. The one where you cut off packets of the deck and say "Tell me when to stop."

The backslip seems to go undetected for me though.

The riffle force is highly suspicious and I have never seen it done deceptively. That is if you mean by the riffle force the same movement as the backslip force without the swivelling. If you mean something else as the riffle force then ignore me.

The backslip is a perfectly serviceable method and it works well. I used to do it all the time both as a control and as a force. Incidentally for those of you who have even heard of the book in one of Victor Farellis ancient but excellent card books there is a method for seeming to do the backslip that fools magicians. It looks exactly like the backslip but isn't. Yet you know the card. I am not going to give it away on here. It is about time the younger generation read a few of the old classic books instead of looking at all these dreadful DVDs that are around nowadays.

I do not consider Paul Wilson to be a good performer and he has the personality of a dead fish. He is not the correct person to be teaching the Royal Road to Card Magic and I have been in touch with Hugard and Braue in the spirit world and they tell me they do not approve either of the DVD or that bloody stupid e-book thing that has just been put out.

I do think the backslip works well but there are indeed better forces available if you MUST have the card forced and can't take a chance on the Classic Force. The one that I use nowadays is described in the chapter on forces in the Vernon card book by Ganson. You fan the cards and a card is pointed to. You show that card and actually slip the bottom one over instead. Now that I think of it, it is actually a different and superior way of doing the backslip force only the card comes from the front rather than the back and the fan makes it better.

I am not describing this very well but I don't care. It is such an excellent force and I think the best one after the classic force and the main advantage of it is that it can't go wrong.

Look it up if you are that interested.

i dont tend to force much, its just one of those things, but when I do I use the Backslip, just for ease speed etc. I should probably look into other things tho, and I really need to practice my classic!
