the hummer card w/svengali

Postby traumabunny » Jul 22nd, '04, 22:54

ive developed a a routine using the hummer card and thesvengali
(my hummer card cost me 10.00 dollars us)
before hand I put the card in my pocket(breast)
the select I make it appear out of my pocket got to the top of deck then turn them all into that card and for the finale i Hummer the card they've chosen and return it for inspection
Comments please ive done this a few times thinking of incorporating it into my act.

I'd say to leave this bit out - as soon as they see that all the cards are the same, the spectators will know it's a gaffed deck. Far better to use the svengali deck sparingly, to really good effect . The average laymen may well have come across a svengali deck before, but will never know for sure if you are using one until you show all the cards are the same.

When used properly, these cards can and do produce the most amazing visual card magic.

I'm sure you guys know you can drop ribbon spread thease card to show them all diferent which is a great convincer its not a sven deck.
not used a hummer card myself but the effect sounds like a winner to me.

I saw a fellow magician do this once and was so impressed I spent countless hours the following week trying to copy that move. To this day I still can't get it right. Can you suggest how I should grip the pack when perfoming this move?

Another couple of moves he did which I use are:

1. Dovetail shuffle the pack by cutting in to two piles and riffle them at the ends. This move I love because any lay person who has seen a sven deck will think that you can't do that with a 'trick' pack of cards.

2. For a lovely finish just to show every card different, hold the pack about 1-2 ft above a table holding them upright in the normal fashion to show them all in your hand but instead of catching them in your other hand let them slowly fall to the table. With practise you will find they do a lovely 3/4 somersault and end up in a lovely mess on the table. But every cad will be face up and DIFFERENT. And their 'chosen' card will be gone (cue revelation somewhere else: pocket, ceiling, under chair, shoe, etc.).

hold cards as you would spring them from hand to hand and let them spring onto the table as you move along the table.

...so that they land face up or down?

I understand if it is face down as this is pretty easy to accomplish, and with a rough surface table it is then easy to just flick over the first and let the rest follow domino style to reveal all the cards different.

What I am having difficulty doing is the face up way where they land ribbon spread face up different.

yes thats what i was getting at, i also had a set that was backwards to the origional so that the special card would drop first then the normal card so by letting two cards drop at a time and moveing a fraction each time you could form a line of cards face up.
