I Found A Book

Postby Ian The Magic-Ian » Jul 18th, '08, 22:32

At a thrift store, Worlds Greatest Magic Book from 1976 was there. It talks

about and interviews famous magicians: e.g. Dai Vernon, Chung Ling Soo,

Max Malini, Channon Pollock, and many more. So far an interesting read, just

a random post. Sorry just sharing my magical find  .

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

That's good stuff, Ian. :P

One of my favorite things to do in London (second only to sipping whiskey with Part-Timer) is hit used book stores. They have some excellent finds. I managed to pick up a very old book on fire magic and, although it's arcane and outdated, it's absolutely facinating.

I'll make some decent finds about once every 8 or 9 years at used book stores here in Toledo, but London has some great book stores!

Mike.

I'm going to London this summer, so hopefully I'll be able to get to some book stores. Any recommendations?

Unfortunately, I cannot remember names and places, exactly. We were in central London, close to where the Chiquitos is and we chose to walk down several "off beat" paths (not even very much foot traffic). They have shops of every flavor down those little pathways - that's where to look.

Hopefully, some of the Londoners hereabouts will be able to help you more so than I.

Good luck and happy hunting!

Mike.

Charing Cross Road is full of book shops - new and second hand - and some of the side roads off it have interesting ones too. Well worth a rummage!

Yes, follow your nose around the Charing Cross area and you can stumble on all kinds of stuff. Your wallet might regret it in the morning, though.

David Drummonds pleasures of Past Times. Cecil Court.

Find Liptons the suit hire company on totnham court road. Cecil Court is the allyway that runs along side it.

He always has some stunning books in there, but not bargains. Our David knows the prices, and charges the going rate. but.. he does have some great titles.( and posters, flyers, photos, ect, on every possible theatre related subject)
