America's Got Talent 2009

Postby The Dude Wow » Jul 29th, '08, 00:08

I am hoping to audition for the next season of the show, and am wondering where the auditions will be held. I know this isn't exactly the right place, but I was hoping others here would know, as I have been reading advice on other subjects here for a while and have come to enjoy the quality of it. If anyone could help, it would be appreciated.

I believe they will be touring Canada, doing auditions there, as it will be based in Toronto.

Does that mean the only auditions will be there, or the majority. If the former is true, then I believe that is a rip off, what with it being America's Got Talent, and all.

I think that if you've read all of the media fall out after the last series of Britain and America's got Talent then you'll realise that the show is a rip off anyway and is fixed.

By that you mean? I hadn't heard anything since I hadn't watched since the first season. Where would I look to look into this?

AMERICA'S Got Talent will be based in Toronto?

Guy's Canada is not a state... not part of our country. (technically though, they are part of yours -- the UK)

The best way to know about the Cattle Calls is to;

a.) Subscribe and READ both Variety & the Hollywood Reporter as well as another little gem entitled CASTING CALL

b.) Go to their web site and see if there is a newsletter & notification sign-up (I'm betting there is)

c.) Shoot video of your act now, get it on-line and send the PRODUCTION COMPANY links to it.

Steps A&C will open doors for you in other areas. BUT (yes, this is the other foot dropping). Are You Honestly Good Enough & Unique Enough to Make it Through?

Bear in mind that NO MAGIC RELATED ACTS have gone for more than 6 episodes I believe it was... that includes major players like Kevin James who's won awards and accolades from around the globe from major VIPs and magic organizations.

Are you willing to put up with Pier's near instant loathing of magic & variety entertainers and the fact that Hasselhoff only gets super interested if you have big tits.... the only half-way honest judge being dear Sharon.

I was watching this clown from Chicago on their last night... Pier's was 100% correct in his summation... the guy looked like he just went out and found a box full of tricks and threw them together... HE DIDN'T HAVE AN ACT... sadly, this guy is highly reflective of what most magic buffs actually look like when they perform... NONE OF US (well, very few) being anything remotely as good as our fantasy makes us in our own mind.

So think it through and KNOW that you can win FISM and then some, before you set yourself up to be roasted on that program in front of millions. You (anyone of us) wanting to make it even half-way through the finals must be better than great going in, because you are dealing with pricks that don't know a thing about magic, who look down at it as something boorish (and trust me, this is very typical) UNLESS you are so exceptional and so flawless not even the most critical judges in our industry can find fault.

So take that deep breath and think about this honestly instead of with your ego... are you ready or are you willing to invest every minute you have in every day to be ready with all of the material, choreography, etc. you are going to need for making it through.

Sorry for sounding like a sour puss, but I think a dose of reality needs to be sucked up on this just for a matter of self-preservation.

If you've read the small print in the credits of Americas got talent you'll see that the prize of $1 million is payable in a financial annuity over 40 years or they can choose to receive it in one go, I'm cynical so I'm guessing that its considerably less if they choose to receive it all in one go and what if its someone who isn't likely to live 40 years? Hmmm misleading
