Rick talks about and indeed shows photos of his haunted chamber in Haunted Magick. Not quite sure, but I think this is what is being talked about. In Pennsylvania, Rick has a ranch where over the years it has gained quite a reputation for being haunted. Basically it is an attraction that Rick has designed and built.

Apparently some very spooky goings on occur there !!!!!

If you're looking for haunted houses in the UK, look no further than www.frightnights.co.uk

I work for them on a regular basis. Wonderful company, nice people, and very haunted locations.

Compared to the U.S. the UK is loaded with haunted facilities but an 'attraction' such as The Chamber WAS (it no longer exists... technically) is very rare here and there actually. Blackhart's mansion is probably one of the better known UK facilities that "fit" this motiff along with what Mr. Bell does with his crew... surprisingly I know of few others out that way... I'm certain there has to be a pub or two or three... hell, you Brits are trying to take over all of magicdom, you have to be working somewhere and doing something... or are you coming over here and taking jobs from we Yanks?

:? No... that can't be... we only outsource to India and people that don't speak good English...

On a slight tangent, there was a piece on TV this morning all about the British population in Hollywood. Not just actors but ordinary folk who have upped sticks to the land of sunshine. Something approaching 35,000 ex-pats at the moment!

I can back up Magic Wand on http://www.frightnights.co.ukand I don't work for them!!

They have some great venues around the UK. You can spend an evening there or even a whole night/ early morning.

I've been on a few in my time and they've always been very interesting.

I actually went to an evening in York at Otherworld where I had the pleasure to meet Magic Wand. He put on an excellent magic session, a bit of tarot and a seance. I even got to hold his hand for long periods of the seance....but that's not compulsory!!! (would have preferred it if he was a pretty lady :D )

Hello,
yes sorry was a tad tired when i posted so made not have been clear.

Yes it is in reference to the Haunted Chamber mentioned in the book and on the site. There are also several others.

I just adore the fact someone has (or had in this case) aquired a property and turned it into that ! That to me is just sublime. And wondered if anyone else has one in the uk that is purpose made with a theme running throughout the walk. (kind of like nightmare (the kids tv show) for those that remember it)

As ive said before and no doubt will again Love it love it love it.

Pennsylvania, as I've found out after moving here is absolutly loaded with haunted houses and haunted places. I scoured Gettysburg looking for one but found nothing. Went to Edgar Allen Poe's shack and again, nothing. Penn State University, (GO LIONS) is supposedly haunted, again I found nothing. I was tossing around the idea in my head to get in touch with the Penn State Paranormal Research Society and see if we could get something together but they actually have a lot to loose, they have their own show about 'ghost' hunting that they feature on Penn State Video on Demand. They try not to associate with the Penn State Performing Magicians for good reason.

However I do choose to believe that Big foot lives in our woods. (I have 11 wooded acres on the side of a mountain) I think I have indisputable evidence. There is a dead tree leaning very oddly against another, along both sides of the tree are four very suspicious evenly spaced holes, and two on the front. It looks like a huge humanish Gorilla grabbed the tree with two hands fingers to the sides and thumbs on the front and placed that tree against the other then used it as a scratching post. It does not at all look like Woodpecker damage, nope not one iota of evidence pointing to the nesting pair of woodpeckers who have taken up residence this summer.

I no longer remember what this thread is even about. Sorry.

Brian

There's this wonderful old book you ought to read sometime bMat... it has some stories in there about those who "tempt fate" and insist on proof and how when one insists on the proof it rarely appears and how one should "not tempt the lord..."

I have had a couple of dear cynical friends pull the same shenanigans you're talking about and even when they finally had an experience in which they soiled themselves, they still denied it was any sort of spooky thing just "phenomena they yet understood or could explain away..."

I have those that want to learn how to be a solid Reader and yet, they refuse to let go of their analytical mind long enough to learn how to do such... when they and they feel the information flowing through them, it freaks them out and nine times out of ten, they stop doing Readings altogether because it freaks them out... but then the majority of those with AN OPENED MIND who are honestly willing to give it a try will have some "interesting" experiences within relative short time of diving into it... the catch is, YOU MUST BE WILLING TO ALLOW IT TO HAPPEN.

I've yet to meet an "open minded skeptic" who is willing to at least admit that there are things afoot that goes beyond their ability to explain it...

this is why I look at most in today's magic world as being CYNICS vs. Skeptics... the latter is willing to and oft time seeks out the experience and wants to "know" the encounter. This is not true with the former in that they have faith in nothing outside of worm food and fertilizer.

I wonder what you mean here in a more specific sense. . . ?

I think through various discussions on the paranormal which have graced this forum there have been a number of members that seem to fit that category.

Do you mean met as in personally encountered? Do you mean in the specific case of readings?

I'm not trying to stir the pot, this is an honest question.

Is that not just the other side of the same coin?

You spoke of people who have had an experience yet refuse to believe it, but then state that to have the experience you must be willing to allow it to happen - to believe in it. If you're in that state of mind, then surely whatever happens, you will believe it to be something 'interesting'.

Im not disputing anything you're saying, I'm simply identifying both arguments as being of the same vain, and that whether or not an experience is real, both parties will still believe the same of it.

In fact, I'd say its easier to prove to the sceptic that something is real than to convince the willing party that it may have been false.

Are we now entering territories that should be left alone on here? :?
