"No"

"Ah..I think it's an F!"

"No"

"Hang on, it's taking shape, it must be a D."

"Yes, there's a D in it".

Then you reveal the word.

That's basically what it is and to many astute spectators, a guessing game is what it blatantly is. I have used this with the information on the Sanctum 2 card and found that in some instances it works, particularly if the spec is gullibile, but if they are in any way sceptical about 'mind reading' or 'psychic abilities' the solution is not that easy to find for an intelligent, sane-minded individual.

It may work for others, but I found it to be a technique and process that I didn't particularly like very much. No matter how you dress it up presentation-wise, unless the first two letters lead you to the word, the more it goes on, the more obvious what you're doing becomes.

Nope, nope, and nope....you have got this wrong. There are more subtle ways of doing this that avoid making looking like a game. Panagram is wonderful software and great value!

You want to generate a 5x5 or 7x7 root the root number has to be equal.

This means an 7x7 root will have 8 words in the anagram and only 1 miss will tell you the word they are thinking of.

This is how part of the Sanctum2 card works (along with some killer stuff on the back of the card)

I downloaded panagram last week and it looks a great investment. For those of you who have this, what are you having the best results with? The esp symbols are quite good and I have my own with family names but as yet I havnt come up with a really good root program for myself.

First, glad you like Panagram. I'm thinking of writing a new version soon so any suggestions, email me at jamie@underground-collective.com - the new version, if I write it, will be free to any existing owners of course.

Here's an interesting concept to apply to using Progressive Anagrams.

If you construct your word list such that some words rhyme, you have a nice 'out' on a miss. For example, consider a 'murder mystery' where a body is hidden somewhere on an old estate... the body could be either: 'In the swamp', 'under the bed', 'in the cellar', 'in the attic' or 'in the shed'.

The Progressive Anagram can be constructed to have the two words that rhyme, fall together:

Root
\
A
| \
| B
| | \
| | SHED
| BED
C
| \
| SWAMP
R
| \
| ATTIC
CELLAR

So if you get a miss on the 'b' you can claim a 'sounds like' on the word and hit 'Bed'.

Minor touch - but if you have the opportunity to construct the list in this way, it's a nice 'freebie' ;-)

This is something I may introduce in the new version - you can indicate relationships between words (could be a rhyme - or a visual similarity) and the program will attempt then to place these related words together in the tree in the same way as illustrated above.

Cheers,

Jamie.

I prefer the 1 X N structures, since I like to have only one miss and then I know where I am and can continue to work with the revelation. The double miss does not seem too good to me.
