I was gonna mention the disappearing pencil trick. Good one it was too, not one to try on family though...

You should all read the graphic novel "The Long Halloween", by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. It influenced the film heavily, and is most good.

Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns is also very good, although not related. Dark stuff though. And for Iain, who likes batman but not Superman - the latter parts of this Graphic Novel might be of interest to you. :P

Having now seen the film I can agree that it is awesome, aside from Bale's gruff batman voice. :? Very odd.
I dont agree about the violence though. I'd come to expect much worse from all the ravings. It seemed more implied violence than actual stabbing and slicing.

yeah - iremember buying the dark knight on the day it came out...bit silly in places but very good..

arkum asylum is the best graphic novel for batman, odd, sinister, short and beautifully drawn...

Gotham by Gaslight and The Killing Joke are very good, too. So is Judgement on Gotham - Simon Bisley's art is flippin' superb.

Possibly, I never did read 2000AD much. I think he probably did work for the Judge Dredd Megazine, though.

(Sorry to go off-topic!).

Bisley did Slaine and ABC warriors for 2000 AD and gave part his name to Simon Pegg in spaced.

Oddly enough I have just finished reading that... really good.

Knightfall Parts 1 and 2 and Knights end are really good.

I think the films going to be made a 15...it said something about it on the radio today.
I adore Heath Ledger and love all of the films he's been in. And I dont like it when friends see him as the rising result in Knife Crime...he didnt write the script.
I think thats the thing I found not very pleasent, the way he descibed what it was like to stab someone with a knife. You can imagime some sick minded kid watching and getting off on that. Thats what I dont like about the film. Not Heath's performance...which was brilliant.

Mandrake wrote:Just goes to show, the old Adam West/Burt Ward TV version was the best! Loads of Kapow!, Kerplunk! and Zonk! but no need for censors, padded rubber suits, nobody got hurt and kiddies could watch it in safety - same bat time, same bat channel  !

My, my how we are showing our age...

I preferred the Green Hornet in those days, along with the Wild, Wild West. That's not to say I didn't watch Fat Man and Little Boy do their their thing... you couldn't pay me to miss the Frank Gorshen (the Riddler) let along Bergus Meredeth as the Penguin... cat woman always confused me though in that you had so many different actresses playing her... talk about the nine lives of a feline...

I loved the first Dark Knight film but found this one falling short. Christian just wasn't any good in it and that stupid "monster voice" used when in the suit was just plain ignorant... made him look like a joke and really detracts from the previous "feel" of the character.

Heath out did himself, I think everyone agrees on that. I never thought anyone would top Jack in that role but Heath took it to new dimensions... it will be interesting to see what Johnny Depp (already signed) will do with the Riddler... let's just pray they don't cast put VanDamn in as the next Mr. Freeze...

I enjoyed the first of the modern Batman's in which Michael Keaton donned the suit... the Val Kilmer wasn't too bad... Clooney? What can I say other than it was the biggest waste of money to hit Hollywood in a very long time and not a step "up" when it came to career goals, for anyone involved in the flick.
