Enjoy some of the "Real" Magic of the Vegas area by going out to Mount Charlestons, the Valley of Fire or even that huge mud-puddle we made a couple of generations ago.

People forget that there is a lot more to the Vegas area than the strip. Too, some of the better shows are actually not on the strip.

Someone suggested Penn & Teller... not my favorite flavor and I know there are others in the world that feel the same... intelligent folks that can think for themselves and who don't think it fun to be insulted buy a giant of a bully and having to pay for said honor.

Lance's show is great, you will enjoy it. Sadly, Vegas changes a lot and there's not much there now that was there a decade ago when I was living and working there. IF HOWEVER Kevin James is playing anywhere, go catch him, you won't regret it! The Terry Fator show at the Hilton is another good bet if he's in town and you never know if you may luck into getting there by the time a certain Mr. Copperfield finally makes the museum public. But I have heard rumors that you can email them and request tours now... don't know the whole story but if you can get in to see it (even when DC isn't around) I recommend it.

Don't hesitate to spend some time in Laughlin as well... it's a bit over an hour south of Vegas has shows that are just as good and about 40% less expensive to get into. You can get some great deals spending time down there over Vegas itself. Same goes with "State Line" where the world's longest Roller Coaster happens to reside... for me, that is well worth the trip out of town and the $10.00 to ride it.

Speaking of Rides... the Stratosphere Tower has some great ones, but do it at night for the full effect (right around dusk)

I don't want to hurt anybody feelings, but P&T way of acting on scene doesn't fit to me, too! It's a way of interacting with public which also here in Italy someone finds great, but that's not my genre.

I enjoyed Kevin James last May, here in Italy! He was a lecturer and a performer in Saint Vincent Magic Convention, and he was really GREAT!! I had the chance to be seated the table next to him, during the After Gala Dinner, so as soon as I could I asked him for an autograph (and his little, great partner, as well!) and have a short talking... really a humorous and high level professional artist. The lecture (more a show than a lecture, really!) was full of fun and interesting tips and ideas.

I'll check for Terry Fator show, as you said. I don't know him, but what you wrote captured my attention!

Be sure that LV will be definively NOT the sole goal of my trip... in fact LV will be the last one. Since then, I'll have left behind my shoulders LA, San Francisco, Yosemite, the Death Valley, Zion, Bryce, Arches and Canyonlands, the Monument Valley, Page and Great Canyon!!

A ride over the Stratosphere will be a must (my 15 y.o. child is waiting for that, too... my wife not!). I'll search for the State Line, if it'd not be too far.... why not?

So, again, all my deepest remerciments for your help! I know we'll have a great time in West USA!!

State Line is on the other side of Search Light, NV... memory serving me right it's right at an hour between Vegas and the California boarder. If you are driving in from L.A./San Diego then you will drive right past this site on your way to Vegas.

If you are going to be in L.A. and hold member to any other magic club, you should be able to get reservations for a night to the Magic Castle... but the kids couldn't go except on Sunday mornings for the family brunch... call the office, I'm certain they can help you out on that front... but with Teenagers in tow I'm guessing amusement parks are on the schedule more than night clubs...

Disney (of course... though I personally prefer 6 Flags on the other side of L.A.... more Roller Coasters! But Disney is fun... went there for the first time when I turned 21)

The Long Beach area has the Queen Mary (ship/Hotel) that you all may enjoy... it's owned by Disney now days so there may be some special package rates for the ship + the theme park. San Diego is loaded with wonderful stuff as well... of course 20 minutes by Red Car (a local train) will place you in Mexico... you also have the zoo, Sea World, etc. in that area.

you're making me "home" sick... I lived out there for so long... so many memories.

I checked on Mapquest, State Line is simply INCREDIBLE! The satellite map view is astounding, I've never seen a Rollercoaster so long!

It is exactly on the road towards Costa Mesa, where I plan to spend the night, so....

Yeah, you are right with the schedule... In any case, if there was any possible chance to visit the Magic Castle..... I must consider it, don't I?

Disney? I was been in Disneyland Orlando and Eurodisney Paris (2 times!), this time I chose Universal Studios in L.A.

I can understand your feelings... sorry to have awaken your "home sickness"!
