Our TV has gone all funny (I think that's the technical phrase). The screen now appears have an odd oval shape to it. Everything outside the oval is green. Everything inside the oval is blue. It's very psychadelic but is weirding the kids out.

Any ideas what the matter is? Or is it as I suspect "broken" (another technical phrase).

Help. If this continues I may have to talk to the missus tonight.

if its an old telly, id say the tubes gone.Time to get a new one.

If its a new one, id say someone has been playing sillybuggers with their raven

If it's an old non-digital one with a cathode ray tube then it's probably technically known as @#*$ed. Best cure is to remove the plug and fit a new TV to it, sorry!

It's a fairly new TV but an "old style" TV (ie not plasma or LCD). I suspected the tube, but wasn't sure if TV's used them these days? Anyway, off to Comet (or wherever) tomorrow.

Don't tell my wife that. She'll never sleep again. I love horror films. My wife has a strange obsession with them in that they terrify her but she has to watch them again and again and though she's forcing herself to confront her nightmares. Aye, it sounds like the tube, or rather the electron gun circuitry. Could be a dry connection, but if disciplining it sharply on top and threatening it with the tip doesn't work, dump it.

Our 12 year old CRT TV suddenly started to rapidly switch channels all by itself yesterday, having tried several things to stop it (including an Onlsow style thump on the top of the box) I found it's due to the batteries in the Sky remote needing changing. Either that or we have a poltergeist in the sense of the 1982 Spielberg movie....

It certainly gave me the screaming abdabs, picture changed from 'normal' to widescreen, Skychannel to ITV1 and BBC2 then back again- anyone have the phone number of a TV Exorcist ?!

I think that's normal with sky Mandrake my new telly did that for several week's before I figured it out or either the poltergeist is going around all TM member's house to put the boo's boo's on us.Or it could be Uri gellar's new Tv special instead of bending thing's and watche's stopping it's uri gellar's channel hopping

Tonight I'll watch with a couple of silver candlestcks ready to cross and ward off the Gellargeists !

So now I have a brand spanking new TV. Now, is it me or do these new fangled LSD TV's not have as good a quality picture as the old style TV's? They're a lot sleeker, easier to carry, take up less room etc., but picture wise isn't it a step backwards?

Also, being sleeker, thinner, etc. is not always a good thing. I can imagine the kids knocking this weedy looking LSD TV over a lot easier than the old I-weigh-a-flipping-ton TV we used to have. And (while I'm at it) the old TV used to own the corner of the room it sat it. This new LSD one just kind of sits there being all puny and weak. The plot pant next to it is nearly as tough looking. Progress. Pah! Bring back magic lanterns, that's what I say!
