I don't dislike your logos, ridl3r (in fact, my favorite is version 1.4), but I say if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Our previous logo was definitely broke, in my opinion, and then seige came along and fixed it. Job's a good 'un, as Tomo would say.

Keep up the good work, though. You've done miles better than I ever could, with my pathetic efforts using Paint. Yes, I said Paint. Stop laughing.

Thanks for the comments, and I don't intend it to be used as a logo, its just ideas.

So maybe the pips don't suggest magic, but then again...does the current logo suggest magic?

There still isn't a PC maker on the planet that can hold a candle to Apple when it comes to product design. But not everyone wants or needs a computer that looks like it fell off the back of a Bang & Olufsen lorry. Macs routinely cost more than their PC equivalents. The cheapest Mac you can buy, the Mac mini, costs £400 and comes with a piddling 60GB hard disk, a meagre 512MB of RAM and no screen. Pop over to Dell, and that same £400 will buy you a Vista PC with a 160GB hard disk, 1GB of RAM and a 17in flat panel. Dell's cheapest system costs just £249.
Reason 2
A chimp with Attention Deficit Disorder could master two buttons, but Apple's (seemingly not ironically named) Mighty Mouse resorts to a single mouse click by default. Yes, you can easily tweak the driver for two buttons or simply plug in a normal mouse, but a firing squad is too lenient for the imbecile who decided that pressing Ctrl and left-click was a better out-of-the-box solution than a single press of the right button.

Macs are like Happy Meals: there's a shiny menu to choose from, but very little real variety on offer. The open architecture of the PC platform, on the other hand, means you can build your own PC from the ground up (or pay someone to do it for you). With your own choice of case, CPU, monitor and other components, you might even end up with a system designed for your personal workspace, rather than for a penthouse condo on the Lower East Side.

And theres plenty more but I don't want to ramble on, of course thats just my oponion, I know that designers swear by macs, I just don't feel comfortable with them.

And as far as saying how bad a designer I am, I've had little over 5 months studying at college. So I know I'm no where near the standards of some of the senior designers, and I probably never intend to.

Pretty much to give me something to do, no offense taken
different concept kinda, but put a hint of colour in to it as some stated that the colours before were to bland.

that to me, just looks like your adding colour for the sake of adding colour.

You also get an out of date operating system OR one that doesn't work, at no extra charge. Plus... WIN a free virus delivered randomly with downloads (the more you download the more you win), and complimentary crashing and freezing for the life of the product.

Sometimes simple is better mate.

BTW, the base model MAC Mini has 1GB memory, an 80 GB hard drive and costs < US$600.

You may not be aware but only a few weeks ago we had a similar thread where different designs were suggested so you're actually covering existing territory to a certain extent. As for PC vs Mac, as long as it lights up and does what I want when I plug it in, it can be a coffee grinder for all I care ! ( I have very low standards at times..... )

Well, I liked the first one - I also quite like those twisty vines, so a combination of 1.0 and 1.3 would probably be my favourite.

I know loads of people who mess around designing logos etc. just for fun so keep playing, and keep showing us We did just have a rebrand, but you don't seem to be suggesting a replacement anyway... had we not recently changed logo, I'd be happy for your efforts to represent TalkMagic, although my only criticism for this site would be that as it sits on a white background it would get a bit lost. I think our current logo works well because it's well circumscribed so it stands out as a logo, rather than just some pretty decorated text.

As for the pips, I think (in the UK anyway) they do have an association with magic, especially in the context of a logo that says "TALK MAGIC"! Does the magic bunny logo necessitate all members to do magic involving animals...?

True but magic bunny also has "bunny" in their name. So that would seem fit to put in there just like talk magic in a speech bubble seems fit to me. But that's they way I see it.

Telling a guy who works in Photoshop to try something like GIMP is like asking someone to turn in their cell phone for an old rotary dial...

I would certainly agree with your point about the current logo suggesting magic. I also dislike the font choice in the current logo - but it works for the majority of people here, so that's what we have. It DOES suggest a community, so in that regard - it fits.

Yes, a Mac is incredibly expensive. However - your screen cap looked like you're running an Alienware system. Depending on your model and features - you didn't really get off cheap. Yes, a Mac is a big, hulking monstrosity - but that beast also lets me house 16GB of RAM - so it can take up half the space in my house for all I care.

I do miss the right click, sometimes...

No one is saying you're a bad designer (at least I didn't see it that way). Keep churning out your ideas, and keep creating. Who gives a c*** (not the best) if we like it or not?

Ha yeah, I'm pretty confident with Photoshop now over the months, I also use it for image manipulation so its one of the best for that type of thing.

And I don't have an AlienWare, just a theme I downloaded to make it look 1337 Wouldn't pay out just for a brand. My computer costs 500.00 GBP. Quad Processor@2.40GHZ,500GB hard drive, 9800GTX graphics card, 4GB RAM, 550 PSU.

Ah, I see the bi-monthly "let's improve the logo" discussion has started again. Seige has done a great job with our current logo, there's nothing at all wrong with it. The fact that it doesn't scream magic is intentional!

Anyway, macs are better for design
