Do you have a tattoo?

Postby taffy » Aug 10th, '08, 22:20

Basically picking up from another thread where dat8962 said he'd had a tattoo done this weekend.

Just wondering if other TM members have a tattoo? If so what is it and where is it?

I have several, but will disclose 4 of them.

1: I have CYMRAEG tattood on the bottom of my lower back.

2: I have a Welsh Dragon and three feathers on my left arm

3: A Welsh Dragon on my right sholuder

4: A verse in Welsh on my right arm dedicated to my son, which translated in English reads: You are living proof that dreams come true!'

Now, Over to you! :D

Like Iain, I think that mine was a mid-life crisis idea

I had been thinking of having one done for a while now but hadn;t seen the right design and then one just popped up on a web site I was browsing for a t-shirt.

It's a spread of four aces inside a large ace of spades with a couple of dice rolling towards the front at the foot of the larger ace.

I thought about having it on my forearm but changed my mind as it can restrict you wearing short sleeve shirts in the office where I know that a tattoo can be frowned upon in some organisations. I therefore had it on the upper arm and I'm pleased that I did.

I'm chuffed to bits with it and it is addictive as I'm planning another on my right arm.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!

I've been meaning to get one for a while. I originally thought of an open palm with the major lines highlighted and the words FORTUNE TELLER in a sort of circle around the palm. However more recently I've been thinking of a good old school skull wearing a top hat and with a snake coming out of one eye socket, with either the four aces beneath it or the fool, magician, death and lovers.

I'm very aware this is a mid-life crisis thing.

15 years ago I was going to have a clenched fist with NORTHERN SOUL around it, but I never did. I'm kind of glad I didn't. But you do only live once (actually I don't believe that, but it's a good excuse). I actually believe that you only live twice. Once for yourself and once for your dreams. Dur-nur-nur-nur-nur-nur-nur-nur Dur-nur-nur-nur-nur-nur-nur-nur...

I don't have one. But have had a few ideas. I just need to draw them up, or get an artist to draw them for me. There are a few good tatooist near me, that my brother knows (as he has a few tatoos) so can get them done well.

1. Rotted/Eaten away skin on right upper arm, showing down to the bone, with spiders crawling all around the in and outside of the arm.

2. Torn open skin on the chest, revealing a heart that looks to have been ripped up then stitched back together.

3. Rotten/Eaten away skin on left lower leg, showing down to the bone, with a snake wrapped around the bone and protruding out of the skin.

Some people say they sound a bit sick, but thats what I want. Number 2 was inspired by my last girlfriend. ;)

There's a specific name for the psychiatric condition in which you believe yourself to be rotting away inside, I forget the name right now... :?

I don't have one and chances are I never will, but if I DID it would have to be a massive skull in jet black ink. Either across my back or on my upper arm. For a while I liked the idea of the Punisher skull but then I thought i wouldn't want to be immediately associated with comic books - takes away from some of the 'ardness, like.

But I'd only get one after a few years of hard work at the gym. Remember, just because you've put a picture on it doesn't mean people want to see your saggy paunch or bingo wings

top tip - remember what and where skin sags as you get older...and how tastes change from the age of twenty to thirty six..

the funniest tattoo i'd even seen was in a book..a man had his rubix shaved, and a tat of popeye with his legs open above his unmentionables..

Oh come on, if I was going to have therapy then I would have had it by now.
Plus like I said, I know people in the business, so I can get it done a tad cheaper than normal.
I don't know why people think my ideas are so bad. Its just art after all.

Ha ha, you're on the slippery road of body art now my freind! :D
I started out only wanting one, but as you said, they are addictive! I'm looking at getting a few more done, not sure what though!

Also wondering for those of you who have had tats, did you think it was painful or not?

I'll be honest and say mine hurt like hell :D
