Keeping a Notebook

Postby taneous » Aug 23rd, '04, 08:35

I was advised by a friend of mine who is sort of mentoring me in magic to keep a notebook of all my shows. Basically write down what worked, what didn't, where I messed up and can improve on, little ad-lib bits that really worked well and should be added and so on. I started doing this about 2 months ago and it really works. I can really see how my show and performance has improved as a result of it. Little things - like checking that my dove pan works before a performance, transitions between effects, what the kids laugh at, using a rope on the floor to mark off where the 'stage' is etc.

The secret to a succesful rain dance is all about timing

keeping a notebook is sage advice I have one and it will prove invaluable as you progress and start chargeing.
it will also give you an idea as to how long a performance you are comftable doing and highlight any trends or patterns to your magic it has certainly helped me develope my style.

I recomend your sugestion to all comers to magic wether they be newbies or seasoned pros alike.
