Chris old mate, if you need a magician for the reception - look no further. Very reasonable rates! :D

Oh man forget the magic get themagicwand for palm reading. I'm telling you it will be a huge hit.

Just imagine the save the date notes, can be in the form of a palm with you and your lovely wife to be in center, and the love line running through. Oh what could be more romantic then that. (ps I'm not even sure there is a loveline I know nothing about palm reading but you will get the point) You could even have something catchy like we've secured our love how about you? Okay that may be a little tacky but hey you get the drift.

Listen to this man. He knows what he's talking about. Imagine how cool your friends and relatives would think you are if as a special surprise you've booked a palm and tarot reader. It would blow them away.

I've worked at weddings in Barnsley. When it comes to doing readings, I can win anyone over.

That I do not doubt my friend...but half my family, have either worked in cold reading or have natural abilyt, thus nothing impresses them anymore...plus they see me do it all the time to complete strangers full well knowing I have no ability yet, people think I do...

I apprecitate the offer but it wud be a complete waste of your time and I wouldnt want you ending up looking or feeling like a tit after my family have drink in them...lol.....maybe u can come to my stag do instead?

No worries mate. Only messing really. I appear to have hijacked your thread, so I'll let it return to it's original course. :D

Anyone know how Chris can send out original "save the day" notes?

Perhaps a bit obvious, but printed with a background of K&Q of Hearts? Depending on your feelings you could use regular or the Tragic Royalty deck. Possibly your favourite Tarot deck using Emperor and Empress? No, perhaps not.....

Could you not have a prediction type effect?
Im thinking something like derren browns one with teddy bear? (only cause thats the only one i know)
Then at the reception have cards on the tables or sealed envelopes in those pretty heart shaped photo holders that "predict" the name or thought you forced?

I'm not sure the Tragic Royalty ones would be a good bet! I was thinking about the King and Queen of Hearts too.

One of the problems is that to do a trick in the 'save the date' cards, you'll probably have to do something that's self-working. This means that, given a chance to study the card, people will be able to work out how it's done. So really you'll be presenting them with a puzzle, rather than magic.

If you're OK with that, how about the old circle of symbols effect? I don't know of a source for it, but I'm sure it was in a book I had as a kid, probably the hardbacked Ali Bongo one. It's rather difficult to explain, so I'll try to come up with a picture for you, Chris.

I love that idea, but save the date cards are usually sent so far in advance, would people remember what they chose by the time the wedding came round?

OK, it's VERY cheap and cheerful, but here you go:

Image

I didn't even attempt to draw a dove in Paint.

Think of a number between 10 and 20 (inclusive). Starting on the dark blue arrow, count along the symbols (dark blue arrow is 1, mid-blue is 2, light blue 3, Queen of Hearts 4) then carry on round the circle, anti-clockwise (so 5 is the wedding cake - yes, it's a wedding cake).

Once you've reached the secret number that you've only thought of, start counting again, this time going clockwise round the circle of symbols. Don't count the last symbol you landed on as number 1, start counting afresh with the next picture along. Ignore the arrows this time, as they are just there to start you off.

When you've reached the symbol that matches the number only you know, you will have landed on a picture chosen at random, based on the number you picked.

I'm getting an impression...you're thinking of the three words that every woman thinks when she gets to the church on her wedding day.

I'll alter him!

(By the way, the 'aisle altar hymn' thing is all one symbol.)

Glad to be of help.

Obviously, your fiancée might not like the aisle altar hymn gag, hilarious though it is to at least 49% of the population, but I was running out of romatic/wedding things to put in the picture.
