*Gulp*

I hate people who decide to run from problems instead of making an effort to find a solution.

Cities in northern England such as Liverpool, Sunderland and Bradford are "beyond revival" and residents should move south, a think tank has argued.

Guess that's me sh@gged then - knew I should never have moved away from Cheltenham

We have trouble with the French, we don't want the Northerners as well  :D

Coming from Sheffield I obviously don't agree. Bradford is a dump though. You take your life in your hands every time you drive through it. It's like Dodge.

There are areas in most cities which are best avoided - certainly in Birmingham and certainly in London.

so very true Mandrake, I've got a friend in South London and I've had some very scarey moments on the way back to her flat after a night out.

There are plenty of places up north that are very nice, and their sports facilities are so much better up there to what we've got down here. Sheffield has got a lovely swimming pool and Dave's quite often in Manchester at the velodrome.

Very sensible. Quick everyone move South where cost of living is more expensive, pushing the house prices up higher, along with more unemployment from all the migration. Yup definitely a sound idea. I'm guessing this was probably devised by a Southerner who'd never been North to Liverpool or Manchester.

At the risk of prolonging the old North/South divide, anything outside the M25 is unknown territory for a lot of 'experts' and politicians! [rant]However, just to show how forward looking they are, our luvverly Government are about to hold a Cabinet meeting in....Birmingham! Lord knows how much extra that will cost us poor taxpayers..... [/rant]

Well, we live in Bolton and were desperate to move back south as soon as we got here!

The best part of visiting London for me is when when I find a seat, settle down and the train begins to move - out of Euston and back to civilisation.

Hit the North!

Such hypocrisy. Anti-south comments are tolerated while the anti-north comments are being slated?

tut-tut...

As Lady of Mystery said, lets leave the dodgy northerners where they are, thanks.

I'm being kind of anti-London, but not anti-southerner. There's a big difference. You should live wherever you want. I just think it's lovely up here. The stunning High Peak on the doorstep, Manchester half an hour away with all the cultural delights that has to offer, London <2 hours away by train, high self-employment, low unemployment, low crime. Time and space to be.

Nice.

it's funny isn't it how when ever anyone mentions the south, people automatically think London. there are plenty of us in the South who don't live in London. Have some sympathy for us, we have to put up with the over inflated prices caused by all the London commuters but have to work outside London where the wages really dont reflect that.
