I'm stupid. I altered the routine and now there are no pauses. Sorry for the waste of forum space.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

What is the spec making a decision about? Whats going on before hand?

Hopefully we'll be able to offer spot on advice if we know whats happening :D

He's choosing food from a menu. Before hand is a routine that basically explains why he needs to pick food from the menu.

Okey dokey!

You could always go along the lines of 'fast food. This could be used if the spec chooses too quickly or slowly.

If its comic vale you're after maybe something like' Remember you've got a completely free choice of the food, but I highly reccommend you choose.....(whatever) or the the trick wont work! Only joking !

You could always reiterate to the audience what has happened up to that point, your spec has had a free choice etc!

It's strictly speaking not a free choice exactly. But I've resolved the problem.

Maybe a food type gag, sch as the chef reccomends................. or dont have the chefs special as the cat died today????

humour is not my strong point but hopefully you get the idea?

Or maybe just audience patter something like . dont you just love chosing from a menu, of course its better if it is in english, unlike the time i was in umbobongo land and chose camel hoof in white wine and fish eye sauce..........

Or why do they have to make menu's complaicated. Duck al la orange with confit delphoiase etc etc ... why not just say orange duck and potaoes??

You could always read aloud the menu for the audience if they have no way of knowing what is on there! This then involves the audience and they have an idea of what the spec is doing!

Im not sure what your food routine is, but theres a video clip on Alakazam of John Archers Chinese Choice of him performing it-may be worth having a watch at how he presents it, using comedy.

Its a very sharp british northern way, so not sure if it would translate well-still worth a look!
