This evening, a helicopter swooped over our house with a spotlight. They said "Residents of this road, stay inside and lock your doors". I called our rater helpful police department to ask what was going on, they said "someone ran from the police and they are just using the helicopter to look for him.

I don't think that they would send a helicopter at 11 P.M. to look for a friendly man who just ran from the police. I don't think everything was all fine, but it's over now so I can relax.

Just thought I'd share my experience.

It's actually a rather nice neighborhood.

I had a similar thing happen a few years back. I was living in Vancouver and right across from my house there is a very large old growth forest. I woke up and there was so much noise, helecopters buzzing back and forth. Outside my window there were cops everywhere looked like a scene from out of a movie. I opened my door and there were police coming up the hallway. He escorted me and the 8 other tennants out of the building. A man was spotted with a gun running into the forest and they were searching the park and clearing the apartments that faced the park. They found him 40 minutes later hiding in somebody's garage a block and a half away.

That sounds more exciting than my night was.

That would never happen over here.

Here, the community support police would ride round on their bicycle, tap on the door and say:
"Excuse me, err...Sir, Sorry to disturb ya, but have you seen any suspicious types 'round here? You have, you say? All of 'em? That's unfortunate. We're looking for one in particular. Well, thanks for your time."

Then off they go to fill in 32 pages of paperwork on that one line of questioning...

Do we have any resident bobbies on here?

"Watch as I make this criminal disappear!"
Bet you can't make the crime rates fall though.
