Hi, I'm Paul. This is my magic blog, with various "mind-reading" tricks invented by myself and also by Derren Brown.

please tell me what you think

Are you serious dude?

I took a quick look at your page and you are exposing magic, possibly copyright material that might get you in legal trouble. You say you are beyond amateur, but exposing is far from behaving like a professional. Actually, if you are beyond amateur, then you have lost the passion for magic, because the world "amateur" comes from Latin, related to amour (love). The one that loves what he does.

I hope you reconsider and that you will steer away from exposure in the future. If your friends know all your secrets, you won't have anything to show and ruin it for other magicians as well.

Paul,

You are blatantly exposing magic and we don't do that here. You will be deleted by a moderator shortly, but unfortunately they can't delete your website, if they could, most of us here would wish they'd delete you too.

Genuine Magicians don't do what you are doing.

Much ugliness there... Why not perform the effects instead of trying to destroy them?

I think, what we are all trying to say, is: Please remove the exposure!
You will do yourself a big favor if you do it and the magic society even a bigger favor.

Cæsar Augustus (27BC - 14), Emperor of Rome, once said:
"I am often entertained by magicians that create the most extraordinary and baffeling magic.
When they have performed I always have them explain to me how they did it.
I must say, that I find that after I know how everything is done, I don't regard it as highly as before."

I'm very sorry that I have started a dispute, and that you feel that way about the blog. Sorry for the length of this post, but PLEASE read this.

Firstly, gunnakr: I have not exposed any copyrighted material. Many of Brown's techniques (he says this in his book and in his shows) originate from 18th century techniques, and his peg system comes from Robert Harris' "Hannibal", which has become a technique for Brown's magic, for mine and undoubtedly others.
Also, I love what I do, and intermediates and advanced magicians can still love magic. You can get different standards of magicians who, regardless of their skill level, love what they do - I'm not a beginner, and I'm happy.
Finally, my friends do not know my blog - the blog is just for other magicians to get ideas from me.

Tenko
I am only exposing some of my own magic secrets. Brown has made many of his illusions open to the public, on internet, in shows and in books, and many of his techniques are based on old techniques, upon which I base my own tricks. Brown is merely inspiration.

Tomo I am not destroying my own tricks, because I came here for advice on how to enhance them. My friends and family don't know about the blog, and it is unlikely that I will be performing a trick for someone who has read it.

But I understand that you are not happy with the exposure of the blog, so in that case, I shall leave the forum, because you all seem to be very bitter and very reluctant to help anyone.

Hi Paul.

There is no need to leave the forum over this, stay and learn from many and varied people who specialise in the art form. There is a wealth of information on these boards. If you are serious about learning magic, then I strongly suggest you stay!
Although the choice is ultimately yours

you know, i have a blog where i put my ideas.

its out there for all to see if they want. but hey dont :)

Its no different to this one, except i dont post anything other than my own ideas.

It might be worth renaming the blog, so a general search for magic, doesnt go to it.

Hi Paul

how about you put a password protection on the site...like lots of folk do...including Derren himself, this only allows people with a substantial amount of Mentalism knowledge to access your ideas etc..

Hope that helps

to be honest, I don't know how to do a password that only lets some people through.

Also, although the earlier comments on this thread were very harsh, I have deleted the blog anyway because they are right that I should keep my secrets to myself, and not go around announcing other peoples' secrets, even if they are doing so. I hope I have made those three people who were complaining about it a little happier, and I'm sorry that I made a mistake - I had not been aware of doing anything of the sort.

We live and learn..................

Its a shame you have deleated your blog - i was thinking of doing one for myself to read, kind of to look back on in a few years and chuckle at my naiveity and blatant stupidity, but decided to hand write one instead, as ... well i dunno why just did lol.

Cant you adapt it like Sorry i forgot who now said and password it or just change the title so doesnt come up with obvious searches.

Blogger.com allows you do your own private blog. I have one for anarcho punk rather than magic. If you go into settings you can change it so it can't be found through search engines and as an extra you can make it invite only, so only people who you've added through their email address can get access.
