I received my YKW Card this morning and first impressions are good. I won't go into the effect here as those of you reading this will no doubt already be aware of what the effect is (click on the link in the first post, if not).
There is not a great deal I can say about this without fear of exposing too much, but anyone who performs Andy Nyman's Killer Elite Pro (to name just one effect), will be familiar with the methodology behind Paul's take on this old-as-the-hills effect. The great thing about the YKW Card is that everything is self-contained and you only need the supplied card to perform the effect; nothing else is required. Bearing in mind that the spectator has a genuine, free choice of any one of five suspects, I think it is some achievement to have everything you need on just the one card, which will fit nicely in your wallet. Incidentally, the card is laminated in the same fashion and is the same size as my Thought Reader Card (which also arrived this morning - woohoo!)
You also get a link to download a 59-page PDF booklet, of which 40 pages make up the instructions. Paul's instructions are very thorough and he goes into all aspects of the presentation. The blurb is 100% correct - not only do you prove that the spectator has chosen the guilty suspect, but you go on to show exactly how he/she was influenced in their choice. Great stuff.
However, I do have one caveat; the fact that the cards are laminated in the usual way (using laminating pouches) makes me slightly wary about their lifespan. I only say this because my Kioku cards, which are also laminated using pouches, did not last very long before they started to come apart at the edges. The constant wear and tear of retrieving these cards from my wallet may wear them out quickly. I guess time will tell. In addition, I have one possible improvement to the card that I can think of which, in all honesty, Paul probably already considered and rejected for whatever reason. Perhaps I will contact him with my suggestion and see what he thinks.
For £15, though, I would recommend this to anyone who likes this sort of effect. I have yet to try it out on someone, but I intend to familiarise myself with the instructions before giving the best performance I can and doing it justice. Same goes for my Thought Reader Card.
