So are you going to introduce yourself in the intro section then, so we can all get to know you? :)

I would personally recommend just keeping the cards in your pocket in the order you want them. Whenever you need them just palm them out of your pocket and slide them onto the deck.
Or you could switch decks altogether, as I recall there is an excellent deck switch taught in Carl Cloutier’s DVD “Bill in Kiwi” as well as a bunch of other fabulous effects. The DVD costs between 15-20 pounds.
You also mentioned that you’re a beginner so I would personally recommend that you don’t commit to specializing in card magic just yet. When I started I thought that I would love coin magic, but, I found that I have a preference to escapology.
Good Luck!!!

Thanks Mystery. I read the reviews at penguinmagic on the "Bill in Kiwi" DVD, but I think it´s to advanced for me. One wrote it was only for professionals and another said something about you have to own your own kiwi farm. That scared me off.

My plan is to start with coins when I feel ready. But I have still a lot to learn in card magic.

Escapology! I haven´t even think about it but it sounds very expensive.

Don't let the children who post reviews on PenguinMagic put you off. Bill In Kiwi isn't so hard - you just need a jacket with loose pockets and a very good sense of timing. The deck switch on the disc uses the same principle as is used in the actual kiwi effect. It's nice, but it's just misdirection.

Don't worry about the DVD being too advanced. Just be prepared to buy a topit too (or buy a pattern then make one). Than again if your just starting performing magic, you probably have no idea what a topit is. And about the giy who said you need a kiwi farm, you don't, but remember every time you perform the effect you use a kiwi.
Also, I just meant that you should learn the basics of all the magic fields before you go all out in card magic. Learn a couple of coin, rope, hankerchief, bill, sponge, escape, and mentalism tricks.
Escapes are probably abit more expensive compared to other types of magic I agree. But, I just started out with a pair of thumbcuffs and a couple locks with a chain and lots of rope.
Finally, please don't start buying individual tricks just as you start out. These are usually very simple and don't teach you the digital dexterity you need or any sleights. I didn't buy a single individual trick exept a TT and a proffesors nightmare for the first 3 years I practiced magic. Start out by buying theclassic books and a couple DVDs. If you want PM me and I'll give you a list of books I reccomend.
Finaly, welcome to the magic community, and get ready to start an addiction!!!

Thanks erveryone for helping me with my routine! I made my first preformance ever (!) this Saturday at a private party (most of them where my friends) but I was nervous anyway. I think I did it OK but I learned a lot.

1. Rainman (Lennart Gren)
2. Sal´s Ace Cutting routine
3. Cutting tens
4. Observation Test
5. The Three Piles
6. Card on the Ceiling

I made a mistake when I did Sal´s Ace but the rest worked fine. The response on The Card on the Ceiling was great! The only thing I really regret is that I used my black tiger deck during the whole routine. Everyone thought it was a trick deck. They even laughed when I picked it up and faned it!!! And finally, you are right Mr Mystery, I think i have to learn more tricks than just cards.
By the way, I kept my stack in the pocket and palmed it to the deck. It worked fine. Thanks again MrMystery for that advice!

It's a beauty isn't it?

Never ever use fancy dan decks when performing to specs. Never. The very thought. Of course they thought it was a trick deck. That's exactly what it looks like. >shudders<

But well done anyway!

It was probably that nasty 3rd ace that didn't wanna come out... am I right? ;)

I wouldn't say never. I have sometimes used a black/white Tiger deck alongside a regular bike deck to perform Do As I Do from RRTCM, just because they contrast each other nicely - black on white/white on black. I crowbar that into the patter ;)

my delivery of tally-ho's came today - i think I'm switching to these for my deck of choice..the fancy ones with a gold trim...the blue in particular is lovely and shiney...

I find Do As I Do works best with two identical packs. Not sure why, perhaps the more innocent the decks look, the more the specs guard goes down. I also do the final switch without saying a word about swapping. Just hand the deck over to the spec and take their deck while blathering on about something else - probably some nonsense about our psychic link being strong. 9 times out of 10 the spec doesn't even realise (or at least recall) the final switch.
