iPhone Magic??

Postby DaveWise » Sep 7th, '08, 19:46

Hello Everyone,
Just got myself an iPhone - and I was doing a bit of googling when I saw some mention of magic tricks that can be done using little video files, and pictures to be uploaded onto the iPhone...

...then I found a package that they sell on ellusionist.com for doing it.

Just wanted to know if anyone has purchased a similar such package -- and what you think of it?!?

Thanks,
Dave

I would say don't get the "iPhone Magic Package", instead make your own stuff.

With the new 2.0 software for the iPhone and iPod Touch you can take a screen shot by holding the power button and the home button down at the same time. You can then upload these images to your computer and manipulate them on an image editing program.

Here a couple I've made (low quality images here though) just to give you some ideas:

They're pretty easy to make and you can do some really cool stuff.

Here is a video by Kam Magic where he uses his iPhone in an ACR routine, which looks really good and is very effective.

I hope some of this stuff helps.

Palfince, Where did you get the Playing card image that is behind the main iPhone screen layer on the one in the middle? I'm looking to do a similar effect and can't seem to find any images with the right resolution anywhere.

Any help would be much appreciated

Ooh, my second post and it's work related (forgive me).

I'm actually developing a few iPhone apps this week for little Magic *tricks* - mainly stuff for the lay-person (you know, select a card, ooh it's disappeared! stuff), but I'd love the input of some 'professionals' if you'd be interested?

I actually think that the possibilities for *real* magic on the iPhone could be incredible; I use my iPhone for the reflection on Twilight Angels (Paul Harris) and the idea of 'capturing' the angel and letting it 'live and breathe' within the phone itself already gives me shivers!

If anyone is interested please PM me and I'll gladly show you my low-rent attempt at iPhone trickery? (Once I've built 'em of course!)
