Hi from a left hander

Postby BrianT » Sep 10th, '08, 17:35

Hi
I was a friend of Walt Lees when I lived in Lincoln many years ago and he taught me some wonderful card magic which I still do for friends.

I thought it was time I learnt some new tricks so at the age of 61 I have raked out some of my old books to learn some new tricks (or old tricks!). I now realise that being left handed makes some moves not work for the viewer.

Does anyone have any advice. Do you know of any card tricks that can only be done by left handers?

regards
Brian

I only know of one sleight, which could be used for an effect, which is the Sinister Glimspe by Darwin Ortiz. He's left handed and one of the best cardies on the planet so take a look at his stuff!

Hi Brian, and welcome to TM!

There are several left handers on this forum, give them time and they'll soon get round to replying!

First off Welcome to TM!

I'm a leftyas well , but I find that when it comes to cards I'm a righty. If you cant grasp the handeling the way the book describes it, then swap everywhere it says left or right. For example if the book says hold the cards in your right hand, you would hold them in your left. It takes a while to get use to but one you get the hang of it, it gets easier.

Hi Brian and welcome.

If I see something that I like and want to perform then I adapt and conquer  There's usually a way to overcome something with patience and practice.

It's not really an optical illusion - it just looks like one!
