I had a long discussion about this book with a guy in International Magic once, quite close to buying it in fact. The general vibe I got was that it was excellent if Parlour Mentalism is your thing, but he assumes you already have quite substantial knowledge in mentalism.

As with all of Max Maven's published work, I find that I use a lot of his methods in my own performances, but end up taking them completely out of context (often to achieve altogether different effects).
I'll write a review when I have the time - remember that it's a very densely-packed tome though.
There are tons of great items in this book and not just for parlour...as many of the ideas and principles can be modified for a variety of settings...this is staple resource in my library...Rainbow Matrix and Pscrabble are excellent and there are some great points in the opening essay.
