Accidental Magic

This topic could prove a little difficult due to vagueness (also perhaps due to lack of relevant events), but we'll see how it goes.

Have you ever, whilst performing a trick, had an accident which made it even better than it was supposed to be? Or enhanced the trick without intending to?

Specific examples are difficult to remember exactly, but this kind of stuff happens all the time if you give it the opportunity to. And most importantly if you're prepared for it when it happens and you're able to imporovise quickly enough to make it seem like this was the idea all along. The inexperienced may be totally thrown if a trick or routine "improves itself" unexpectedly. With experience you are just waiting and hoping for something "weird" to happen. And I'm all in favour of weird.

I was performing an effect for a 10 year old boy a few months back and I intended to hotshot cut his selection out of the deck. When I went to catch the card out of the air it bounced off my finger instead and landed face up on the back of his own hand. You should have seen the look on his face. I'm just glad he didn't ask me to do it again. 8)

I once f****d a 2 spades on a woman, and asked her husband to read his wives mind and see if he can pick up on the vibes, and then I'd try and read his mind and see if we could do it?

Well before I got to tell him don't say anything (incase he decided to say the wrong card) he just blurted out, 2 of spades.

I don't know who was the most shocked, me or the wife! Obviously I just played on it and reaped all the applause from everyone as the couple went round telling everyone all night how amazing I was!

Impossible is nothing, if you only believe!

I once accidently dropped a coin in my lap and couldn't find it, later on when I was walking around it just fell to the ground.

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

I did a simple mentalism effect where the spec picked any card, in this case the 7 of spades, and then I read their mind. Then I tried to Classic f*r*e a diffrent card, and by sheer luck they picked the seven again. Of course they were impressed, and then they returned the card and when they picked a new card they picked the 7 again!!! They were completely floored. Anyways, thats my story.

Not so much an accident, but I do an effect where the spec names any card and I need to locate it via a memorized deck etc, but the amount of times they pick the top or bottom, it can't just be coincedence

After a mental force, I confidently predicted the next five cards the person thought of, just like that. This was part of an "explanation" leading to another trick and I was supposed to get close on a couple and move on. I skipped the explanation patter, went with it and skipped the next trick completely. They were proper impressed.

This isn't so much an accident as a case of memory improving a trick. I was camping with an organization called F.S.C, and there was this little girl of around five who would constantly approach me and ask for tricks. Toward the end of the two weeks I was running low on ideas, so I did a simple trick in which i, through misdirection, had her think i threw a stick she signed into a fireplace, i then put the stick in her hair bun for her to find. When she told this trick to her mum later on she told her that i threw the stick in the fire and it reappeared in her hand. brilliant!

Invoke not reason. In the end it is too small a deity.

Again ot so much as accident but fate shining down.
Was learning pencil reading and was asked by a friend if i could read theirs. Started with one number and about 75% accuracy. But i suddenly noticed i had them in the perfect reflection position and was then able to do 5 figure numbers and pictures with 100%. Even managed it with me out of the room and coming back in !.
