My 10 year old nephew has been left a few hundred pounds...and as a family we thought it would be fun for him if he enjoyed the money now. He loves Harry Potter etc, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a weekend full of magic. Like a magic school!! but just for a few days.
Many Thanks. Sophie.

I'm not sure if this is what you are after, but last year we were on holiday in Northumberland and visited a place called Alnwick castle. As it turned out this is where the first Harry Potter film was screened. Its a fantastic castle with loads going on for children and adults alike. Birds of prey flying freely, kids having swordfights and getting dressed up in medieval suits of armour. Truly an amazing experience. Thoroughly recommend it.

Eureka in Halifax on the October half term Holiday for the Wziarding Event.
Im the resident Magician at Eureka and im doing the full School holiday week (27th til 31st). They also have potion classes, herbology lessons, and I think they have some of the original owls from the Harry Potter films coming in. On the evening of the 31st there is a special halloween party which im also performing at.
The beauty of it - its only about £7 to get in, and any child in a halloween costume gets in for free!!

It'd help to know a rough geographical location.

Oddly enough, using my crystal ball (i.e. 'typing the words eureka and Halifax into Google') immediately brings up half a dozen links.
Gosh, that took me all of 30 seconds hard work...

On the subject of Alnwick - I grew up there, and used to see Robin of Sherwood filmed in the grounds. The Spaceman and King Arthur was also filmed there, but I may be showing my age somewhat.
In my youth I used to run around on the ramparts, but that's not allowed now.
Take care, Ian

Alnwick castle is really cool. I got stupidly excited at standing on the very spot where Harry had his first broom flying lesson. For a 44 year old I'm very immature.
You know where else is cool? Peignton zoo! Other end of the map and very random - but their new crocodile enclosure is truly scarey!!!
