My favourite area of Rome is trastevere http://www.italyheaven.co.uk/rome/areas/trastevere.html There are so many excellent restaurants and it has an incredible orangey, candley, feel to the place at night. My brother used to live in that area so could visit fairly often. He's now selfishly moved to London putting a stop to my cheap Roman frolicking.

Isn't that because it's in Florence? :)

Thanks everyone.
Quite a few of you mention getting a walking tour, where do you book these? At the collesium or somehwere else? Just want to try to hit the ground running so we can fit as much as possible in and not miss anything.

If it is then I'm going mad because I haven't been to Florence but I have seen David - maybe I saw a copy?!

Apprently the original was taken off display in the open in Florence as it was beginning to suffer from the weather and it was moved to a special room in a museum with a copy put outside for the tourists! There was a press article last week about the statue having been 'on tour' in the USA and had just returned to Italy. I know I've seen another copy elsewhere in Italy and I was told there were at least four of them dotted about the ouuntry.
