Hiccups cure

Postby Deviant » Sep 24th, '08, 20:48

I just wanted you all to know, i found a cure ( that actually works ), for the Hiccups! I'm only exited because i had a case of them while school was in and it was VERY embarrasing.

Cure 1) Take a cold glass of water and drink it as fast as possible.
it actually works.

Cure 2) put a pinch of Sugar(dry) on the back of your throat and swallow.

Cure 3) Tug on your tongue, its harder than it sounds.

If any of You tried this, please let me know how it worked.

Hold your breath for four minutes and 30 seconds. Works like a charm.

Frank's Ultimate Cure -

1. take a few deep breaths to relax your body.
2. take a deep breath, open your mouth and exhale thru your mouth as slowly as possible maintaining a relaxed feel to your body.

(if you hiccup during step 2 start over at step 1)

3. take a few regular breaths and relax you're whole body.

4. You may feel like you might still hiccup but you won't.

No extra props needed.

This works everytime without fail:

Stick fingers in your ears and pinch your nose
drink a glass of water

t is possible to do this on your own but getting someone to help out makes it easier.

All the cure that work seem to be one based on restricting the air going to the lungs.

This one's quite good at a party and so far it's worked 5 times out of 5 for me. I'll just tell you how I did it the last time as I can't really break down the method.

Anyway, I was at a house party and walked into the kitchen where some poor girl was hiccuping. There were 3 other people in the room all suggesting drinking water and holding breath. I wandered over just as the lastest 'cure' failed and offered to help. I took out my wallet, took out a tenner, and slapped it down on the table in front of her saying "Here's £10. Hiccup again and it's yours!", and pushed it across the table towards her before stepping back. I then gestured innocently waited for 3-5 seconds, said "No? Alright then!", picked up the money and left!

As I left, the poor girl said "Rats! I coulda done with money!". Well that's gratitude for you!

The theory goes that hiccups are involuntary, and as soon as you try to make yourself hiccup, you can't. As everyone knows, if you break the pattern of hiccuping by relaxing/drinking water/sudden shock they'll disappear. Perhaps someone could come up with a proper scientific explanation as I don't really know why it's worked. I might just be luck!

As for the history of "The Move", credit goes to a friend of a friend who worked in A&E. He'd come across people in terrible states, and to cap it off, they'd have the hiccups as well. He'd then use this wager to cure the hiccups to give them some relief! I never found out his success rate, it might've been never for all I know!

I just sit back and enjoy them. I don't get them very often.

Here, Here...

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

Believe it or not this works also. Whenever I say " I have the Hiccups" my wife says "Prove it" after that they are gone.

I know it sounds stupid, but next time someone say "I have hiccups" try it and see for yourself
