Halloween Stuff - Do NOT buy from these guys

Postby lozey » Sep 28th, '08, 15:29

I just thought Id warn people about a company called Bump In the Night Productions. They make puppets and other halloween / sci fi props. On ebay they also have a shop run by a person called horrorhosty or horror_hosty. Basically they stole over £60 from me and didnt deliver the items i ordered. Because they gave me various reasons for the delay, I didnt contact Paypal until it was too late to raise a dispute, so I never got my money back. ORDER AT YOUR PERIL!!!!!!

Barton: Have you read the Bible, Pete?
Pete: Holy Bible?
Barton: Yeah.
Pete: Yeah, I think so. Anyway, I've heard about it.

I'm sorry to hear about that, Loz.

I've also been the victim of eBay/PayPal BS in the past and I did a lot of research to make sure I never leave myself open to it again.

One thing about paying with PayPal is that you have a maximum (as you'll obviously know!) of 60 days to lodge a complaint. What I intend to do in future if a seller is taking ages to deliver - and I encourage everyone else to do the same - is to lodge the complaint within the time-frame anyway, no matter how plausible their excuses seem. I'd send them a polite email after maybe 40 days and say "Based on PayPal's policy cut off for placing a claim of non delivery, I am left with no choice but to take action to protect my purchase. On receipt of the goods, assuming your explanation is accurate, I will of course cancel the claim."

That way you cover yourself and let them know that you don't suffer fools gladly.

Frankly, if I bought something off eBay and it didn't arrive in 7 days, let alone 60, I'd have something to say and I'd never deal with that seller again once I'd said it.

This Bump In The Night company sounds like a bunch of jokers - thanks for the warning, Lozey.

Do you use paypal to charge to a card? If you do, it might be worth going and having a chat with your bank and see if they can sort it out. I've been at the wrong end of internet card fraud in the past so always pay with my credit card now because it's protected.
