If you're willing to consider using something other than coins, Sankey has Holy Moly and Holy Stretch that use washers. Probably cheaper to give out in the end; not quite as impromptu looking but his handling is very sharp (I don't own either effect, so I can only speak from the demos on his site).

tony no stretched one in that set, sorry.
short of heating and streching one yourself then there is joker coin from cardsformagic.co.uk, a chinese coin that streches but at £20 each not a give away.

I do remember seeing at fairgrounds and the odd theme park a machine is which you place a penny, crank the handle and it flattens it out.

Surely you find one of these machines, spend an afternoon making hundreds of 'em and then swap them into the end of silver impression type effect at the end?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say a local machine shop that has a metal press would probably do you a bunch for a reasonable price especialy if you show them a trick and you business card, strickly on the qt you understand, defacing the queen and all that nonsense.

I definatly don't recomend lining 30 or so along the train tracks. I would never do that.
