A thread to tell everyone about injuries which have stopped us practising or performing.

Last night, I took a chunk out of the tip of my left ring finger on some broken earthenware glaze. This has prevented me from doing all sorts of things I didn't realise that finger did.

I sliced a big hole in my index finger when performing the Bill in Lemon last september, which took me out of action for a few weeks.

The lemon looked a rather odd colour during that show....

You should have changed to 'Bill in Pink Grapefruit'!

Managed to cross thread my 'Marvelous Brass Box' this evening. Despite my best efforts, it remained immovably stuck... Sulked for an hour or so then stormed back to it - hyperventilated for 30 seconds then got it in a death grip and gave it everything I had!! Amazingly the top came off with a sound like someone pulling a welly from a bog... My elation was short lived when I realised the rest of the box was dangling from my thumb... actually, half way inside my thumb, the force of the 'twist' and the lovely, crisp edge of the brass box combining in order to slice me wide open.... Deep joy...

Much blood and an interesting search for a bandage (with the skin on my thumb flapping about like a sail) later... I'm discovering the joys of typing with one finger... it's only taken me an hour to write this.....

Haha, I fear it's going to be consigned to the bottom drawer, never to see the light again.. I can't see me using it without having the urge to drop the little death trap down a well.... (I hold a grudge for ages...)

Back in August I fell at a music festival the night before I was playing with my band the following morning. I thought I'd sprained my hand but managed to do the performance then went straight to A&E to be x-rayed only to be told that I'd shattered the joint and thumb and would need to go in for an operation to open me up, rearrange everything then have it all screwed back together again (it was in 5 or 6 pieces).
It's still early days but I'm getting movement and strength back in although things are different now. What was one of the things that annoyed me most? I was just about to start learning the Heinstein Shuffle!!! Oh well, I will just use that as an unusual form of physiotherapy!
