Well what would we need a space for? Surly we can start a thread on advice with dealing with children as audiances, ideas for altering tricks with children in mind and best ways to get bookings.
All of these can still be talked about freely on the forum and if there are enough people interested and if the posting gets big enough, the moderators should think its reasonable to create a separate category for us.

The problem is that Children's magic topics get lost in with everything else. Unless evrything was posted with "Children's Magic" in the title, who would know if there was anything specific in it? I know I asked about a children's section a couple of years ago, but was told it wasn't needed. The place for this is in the Forums Request section, so I will post something in there. People an have their say for and against, then it is entirely up to the Admin team on whether THEY feel it is needed.

EDIT.

Thread started in Forum Requests, ref new children's section.

All I'm saying is if the moderators decided not to create a space for children's magic when asked, it seems likely that, without some changing situation, they will just say no again.

Whenever I log on to talk magic I click on the 'new posts since last visit' button and see whats new, and I have my profile set to send me an email when a reply to a thread Ive joined is made.

So, within a few hours nine members are already aware of this thread and can come back to it, lets say we start discussing tips, ideas and experiences with working with children on this thread then when people want to start a new subject on children or find a thread on children they can send this thread a link. Over time we should get all the members of talk magic who are interested or invested in children's magic on this thread. If there are enough, we should be able to keep the thread active enough to reappear in the 'new posts' list often. Then if enough people join the discussion we would have given the forum moderators sufficient proof that enough members are interested to warrant an individual area.

I know it has some problems and I know its not as good as having a separate area, but all I'm saying is we give it a try. There's no harm in asking the moderators again but if they say no then lets do what we can about it.

No problem with that, just thought the question had been raised, again, so another request could be made. Hope I put in a few more thoughts than just " can we have please?" so they have something to mull over.

If the answer is no, then it would have to be a case of having to title and look for something to make it clear it was for children's entertainers. maybe the in depth threads haven't been seen before, as all the other types of magic together, pushes the threads out of sight quickly. Maybe, if it isn't approved, we should all make more effort to keep them on page 1, but would rather wait until they decide on whether there will be a new section or not.

magicdiscoman wrote:semi retired 15 yr pro magic and disco childrens entertainer, will that do.

childrens parties are the best training ground for a magician for audience managment and temprement training, kids can and will out you if you havan't got the right constitution or temprament for the job.
yet they can equaly humble you and raise your ego in the same show, there is nothing that can beat the breaking smile on a childs face when they make the magic happen, its very akin to a babies first smile, if you get it right they will remember you for years to come, you may even change there lives, iv'e been privalidged to have had this happen to me on a few occassions.

Well said magicdiscoman (thats a mouthful)

Your absolutely right. You can make or break children's childhood memories which is a very responsible job. You either can or can't entertain children. But we feel there are too many that do - only in it for the money and children are not stupid. They can spot a fake and they are very unforgiving !!!
