It's furious scribbling time

November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. ("National" is a misnomer; writers sign up from all over the world.)

NaNoWriMo is a challenge to write 50,000 words of fiction during the month of November. Planning can be done earlier, but the writing itself can't begin until the stroke of midnight that marks the beginning of November 1st. Pens down at the stroke of midnight that ends the 30th.

This is my third year of NaNo-ing, and I hope to do better than my two previous attempts, at least. Come cheer me on under my alias of "BlockBreaker"! Watch me spew out never-before-seen quantities of utter rubbish!

Oooh, smashing, but does this mean you're definitely not playing out on Saturday?

Saturday's not in November yet, so it's still possible. But I see it's already 3:30 pm NOW, and I need to be working my fingers to the bone, but here I am still indulging in my breakfast internet bout. So time is slipping away.

The Manchester NaNo group is very active and will probably have a lot of lunchtime meetings. Once a week is typical. And during November writing has to come before magic -- or indeed anything else. Even computer games (sob).

Good luck Robbie.

It sounds like good fun.... I might have a bash myself.

I like the one from 'The DaVinci code':

"Somewhere in the distance a church bell rang.... deafeningly."

Thanks for the support! My previous two efforts ended very prematurely for various reasons, so I should at least manage a personal best this year, even if I don't make the 50k.

And yes, it's 4:30 now and I'm still on line. Sigh. Right, it's switching off NOW. Will get some lunch and start whipping through those pesky kriss krosses. Hope to knock off work before midnight, but it's doubtful now...

I wasn't going to bother this year, but then had a plot idea on the way in to work today. Can't legitimise it unless I do that other 30k word project. And then there's the Birthday Book I need to scribble up too...
