I'm off to Hull. HELP NEEDED

Postby Lawrence » Oct 31st, '08, 14:12

There's a few Hulligans about who may be able to assist.
Do any of you know a sensible way of getting out of Hull on a sunday?
Direct trains from leeds to hull on a saturday, no problem, loads of 'em. But try getting back on a sunday morn!
Has the bus station malarchy been sorted now? read: Is it possible to locate where the National Express coaches actually leave from these days?

Also, any TMers kicking about Hull on saturday night? I could be convinced into having a drink bought for me!

The bus station and train station are all one building now. They've got electronic displays, but there often not working. There are usually lots of information people kicking around to find out where the national express are going from. If not then there are a number of desks, but don't know how active they'll be on Sunday. The train to Leeds still run on Sunday, just not as often. I think there is one about midday.

I may be out in the old town tomorrow if you want a drink, but won't know till later on tomorrow.

Cheers fella, think i'll be trying out the National Express then. Had a farse with it last time i tried to get it from hull (due to lack of bus station i think).
I won't have internet access tomorrow but should be hitting a couple of bars (Sharky's probbably) then off to you know what, i don't think i want to say that on a public board.

If its the nightclub across from sharkies, not been there in a good while. Last time I went one of the bar staff there told the bouncers I was incredibly drunk and been causing him trouble. So for the whole night I had them keeping a sharp eye on me. Every so often trying to put me in positions where I'd end up starting a fight. It was pretty annoying as I hadn't touched a drop of alcohol that night. I'd been on medication for something that wasn't meant to be combined with alcohol and I was driving me and my mates home at the end. I'd spent most of the night sat quietly chatting to an old friend I'd not seen in a while on the coaches. Put me off going. With late licenses for the pubs and bars I can avoid clubs like that if there going to be rude to me.

Yeah, figured that would end up in the bingo, but there wasn't a nice inocent way of putting it.

Spiders will be packed, its got busier each year for halloween. It was about half an hour to an hour to get in last year. But it is one of the best nights of the year for the club. The musics gone downhill as they've pushed more for the emo/indie kids rather than the rock metal it used to go with. But I've got to be careful going there now as with all the underage drinkers I'm liable to bump into my students from school.

Ahh....Spiders...happy hazy memories. I left Hull in 1992 but used to love that place. Do they still do pink pugslies? Last time I was home I had a few too many and nearly let my niece convince me to go to Spiders, luckily common sense prevailed....

Can't help with the transport advice - I didn't even know the bus station and train station were one and the same now!

They still do pink pugsleys if you want to have pretty sick. Its going up in price though. When I started going I think shots were 45p whereas now there up to the ridiculous price of 60p.
