Went to see Copperfield's tour as it rolled through our city last night...veeerryy entertaining for those of you that have an opportunity to see it, I would suggest getting tickets.

He did some great illusions, and also did his good old ring on little show trick and tissue rose to real rose effect. I was third row, centre stage, right along the inside ailse. He did the ring on shoe effect about 10 feet infront of me and the rose trick was done right alongside my left shoulder....had great seats (for various reasons) for both.

It was very enjoyable....and he does a great job of entertaining...truly world class!

Sounds like you had fun with great seats. I would really enjoy seeing that but...

We British are far less impressed with David Copperfield. I remember reading in a British newspaper about "an over-the-top American magician" referring to Copperfield. He went over very badly in England and so much so that he actually took out an advertisement somewhere or other sarcastically thanking the British public for his awful reception.

The trouble is that we British are a very cynical race of people. When we see someone flying over the Grand Canyon we tend to say, "So what? We see that every Christmas at the Pantomine"

When David Blaine did a stunt in New York the populace were in great awe and wonder over it. We British simply pelted him with eggs.

When I went to see his show a year or so ago he played a ten minute clip bragging about his accomplishments. I can imagine why he is not well accepted over there. I don't appriciate the credit he gives himself sometimes.

C'mon Mark, I'm certain that you've had a bad review or two over the years

I've seen U.S. critics rip him apart as well. Though I've had a good time at David's shows when he came to Vegas, I can see where some folks could get a hint bored with things. Especially when his ego starts pushing through in the presentations vs his otherwise warm demeanor... David can actually be a great guy and quite cordial when he wishes... when he keep Copperfield at bey and allows Kotkin to surface... but that's like watching Max vs. Phil

It's not like you can force everyone to like someone else. Some people like David Copperfield, others don't. I don't see how you're going to change someones opinion on it.

Being fair to David, i think most of the negativity was in the press and for his 'marriage' at the time rather than his magic. The show that i saw in glasgow was completely sold out, and the crowd adored him.

Marriage?

David's never been married... he's been "engaged" but that's about as close as it gets.

Burton was married at one point, for just over a year's time, to Melinda but it would seem she wasn't getting what she wanted out of the deal and things fell apart in quite an ugly way.

Oops, my mistake. I am of course refering to his relationship with Claudia Schiffer. I'm sure you know more about the reasons for the split that I do Craig, but that's what I was thinking of.
