basic card manipulation dvd

Postby midge25 » Oct 16th, '04, 10:46

My main interest is mentalism, but am looking to introduce, some card mentalism

I am looking for recommendations for a good dvd, that will teach me basic card slights.

Particularly interested in learning a DL, glide, pass and false shuffle or cut.

there are many that teach basic sleights BUT i wouldnt put the pass into that category. however i can recommend the encyclopedia of card sleight series by Daryl... you should find what you need there

I'd recommend Oz Pearlman's 'Born to perform card magic' DVD.

Most of what you've asked for is included

Hi..

Kaufman's Basic Card Technique is very good. However I'm pretty sure it doesn't teach a pass (It's where I started but I haven't watched it for a while). It does however teach cuts, double lifts etc.. All in all it's an all round DVD that covers a lot of basic sleights.

But if you're just after various ways of doing the sleights, then Daryls dvd series is excellent (just live a video encyclopedia).. simply buy the ones that cover what you want. (I know volume 5 has the DL stuff, and I think 2 has the false shuffles)

Hope this helps

As dat8962 stated, Oz Pearlman's Born to Perform would be an excellent choice.
He works his way through 4 top routines. The Ultimate Transpo is probably the most startling and effective tricks I know, and will make your family/friends/spectators absolutely flip out. He teaches all the basic manipulations you need.
Daryl's encyclopedia is excellent, but is better IMO as a reference manual for people who are seriously into their card sleights. The high price for the set is well worth it if you want to learn multiple false cuts, etc.
