The passing of a great

Postby Duplicity » Oct 25th, '08, 12:12

This may have been posted elsewhere - in which case, please delete.

However, with great sadness i learned the other day (24th) that Ted Lesley passed away.

He'd been ill for a while now, battling Parkinson's Disease and some other complications. He passed away at around 2pm, peacefully - in his sleep.

I never knew the man, however - i am genuinely quite upset about this. A kind, gentle and creative man he seemed. And i think the world's lost a little bit of magic.

Rest in peace sir.

What a shame to lose such an inventive performer. He's created, or popularised, some great ideas for mentalism.

Sad news indeed. I think I'll spend the afternoon quietly reading Paramiracles.

I was in email contact with him for a while as at one point I had a German girlfriend and I was travelling to Munich quite a lot, he gave me his personal phone number if I was ever in Berlin to go and visit him, I wish I had now...A sad loss to the magic world of a Giant of Magic and Metalism.....Rest in peace Ted... you will be missed by many.

Another thing about Ted, was he used to have a great mentalism forum, that vanished a few years back.I loved hanging around there, as you got to chat with so many incredibly good people.

I'm also kind sad that so few people on here recognise the name.

Their loss.

He seemed a lovely, warm genuine man that cared about creativity and ethics - as well as his love of mentalism and magic.

I am a little surprised by that too to be honest! Ted was up there with the best of them...a Giant of magic and mentalism....I am not sure if we have any famous mentalists on this forum but if there are I was expecting a response from that direction.

Dale,

I hope you don't mind me pinching your link from the MB form to put here but I think it's relevant.....

The following link is a good biography of Ted and is well worth a read.

http://www.dragonskull.co.uk/ted_lesley.htm

Also there are 5 pages of tributes to Ted on the Magic Cafe forum the following link is to their general mentalism page where another link to Ted Lesley Passed Away will need to be clicked to access them...

http://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/view ... =15&201510

They are also worth a read...I tried to insert a direct link to the posts but after several attempts and it coming up with errors in the preview screen I gave up...the above link is the closest I could manage.

Note to Mods....If you think the above link to the magic cafe mentalism page is exposure please remove it! Thanks

Jack

It is a loss for anyone who does not know his name and his passing is a bigger loss for us all.

I like to think his friends and family know how respected he was and I hope that offers some comfort.

...sigh... :(

If we can hit that bullseye then the rest of the dominoes will fall like a house of cards... Checkmate!
