Flash paper residue

Postby greedoniz » Nov 14th, '08, 13:13

Hello

Whenever I have used flash paper in the past I have found that once burnt a slightly tacky residue is left on the object wrapped inside.

Is this something that cannot be avoided or is it me using bad quality flash paper?

In walkaround the routine I want to include in my set would involve a finger ring (mine) being wrapped in flash paper and ignited. If this is done many times a night it'll get rather messy and thus harder for me to do the following ring/string routine.

If this resdue cannot be avoided it isnt a big deal as I can leave out that part of the routine but I'd rather leave it in.

I've found that the residue isn't quite as bad it you wrap the object loosly.

It's a side effect of the materials used to create FP as there are some strong chemicals at play. Unfortunately there is no way to avoid the residue other than to not use it, highly impractical. But as Lady of Mystery suggests a looser wrapping minimises residue. And it does clean away quite easily anyway if cleaned immediately.

I meant to do that...

Maybe you could pass it off as it just appeared by means of a fire summoning, therefore it is obvious that there will be a reaction like that.

I have found that by wrapping something up in flash paper, and placing it in my mouth where I ignite it greatly reduces the residue.

You ignite the flash paper in your mouth!!
Surely that's not safe!

I've never had this issue, however I HAVE given my fingertips a nice yellow tint from overuse of flash paper. I also accidentally burned myself AND my close-up pad with an unruly piece that stayed stuck to my hand as it burned.
