Mathematical Faro Problems

Postby Lenoir » Nov 17th, '08, 13:32

I was reading through the Faro section of Card College 3 and came across quite a nice sandwich effect using the Faro and some rather baffling mathematics. I probably won't use it, but I HAVE been using the Faro a lot recently and I'm sure understanding the effect will help.

I have tried and tried, followed the instructions to a T but am still not getting the correct card in between the Jacks, let alone getting the 25th card control to work!

If anybody has Card College Three, it's on page 697, "The Two Detectives" Take a look and if it works for you, tell me!

Hey, I just had a look at this, and also got into a few problems the first few times I attempted it. But after a bit of experimentation, I got it working in the end.

Firstly, I found that the initial control results in the card going to 26th from top. Make sure you've got the break in the right place too - it's got to be below the card directly 'behind' the peeked card.

Also, I make sure I always do the faros the same way each time, with one more card in my right hand than in my left.

Umm, I'm not sure how much detail I should go in to here - I'd happily describe every stage in a lot more detail if you like though...

I've got it working...but without the middle stage where they place the jacks in the deck.

It's controlled to 25th or 26th(?) and then I just place the Jacks on top and have them cut.

I will figure it out eventually, amazing principle though!

Hmm ok cool. Well I've got my own detailed description of how I do it and I'll send it over to you in a moment if you like. It is a crazy effect though... especially with reversing the cards in the middle. It impressed me as much as it impressed the spectator when I finally got it to work!

Sure thing! Send it over. I can foresee somebody on here soon ranting about how it's an over complicated way to achieve a sandwich effect, but they don't realise how beautiful and clean it is!

It really is so clean. It's a great way of loading the selection, I've never been too happy with the more typical ways of loading a card between two others in the usual sandwich routines.

Nice!

Greatest sandwich effect I've seen yet!
